A rather close call, but I go with Moonmadness.

From when I started to listen to Camel over many years I preferred Mirage, but this has changed in the last 10 years or so.

Moonmadness, but not by much. I really enjoy both quite a lot.

Both excellent albums, but it's Mirage for me. It doesn't have a bad track on it, and it includes two classics, the White Rider suite and Lady Fantasy. On Moonmadness I would say Aristillus and Another Night are weaker tracks.

Mirage especially for "Nimrodel / The Procession / The White Rider" which at one time was my favourite Camel track  That said, I haven't listened to either album much since 2004-2006, which was when I was most into Camel.

Moonmadness is my favorite from them, thus voted accordingly. Both are great albums.

Mirage, their best album IMO.

I really don’t get Moonmadness. I’ve tried on many occasions but just find it lumpy. Mirage all the way for me

Moonmadness.  For me it took a few albums for Camel to mature...while Mirage has some great stuff, it is from their immature phase IMO

Moonmadness has better sound production and Side Two is near perfection, but I love Mirage's Canterbury feel and it's more consistent prog magic.

It was Moonmadness for me, but I have to refresh my ears... It's been ages since I listened to either.

Their two best albums. Moonmadness by very narrow margin.

Anyone else think Supertwister is one of their best tracks? it's archetypal early 70's instrumental prog rock for me. The production, tone, etc. - everything is perfect! It always reminds me of a snowy winter day, looking out the window sipping some hot tea and reflecting. The flute section is a highlight of their discography IMHO; that was Andy L., correct?

Close but Moonmadness for me.

I regard Mirage as the marginally better album, but love them both.

I think it's Andy Latimer's guitar solo on The White Rider that swings it for me

Ah, yes. Their most classic album vs. the last album with their most classic lineup. I'll go with the latter.

Mirage. Moonmadness's cigarettes are fresh, but not as fresh as Mirage. Although I do think Moonmadness is better organized with it's concept.

Mirage is a mixed bag. Lady fantasy is a bit boring

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I think Mirage is a better overall album with five really strong tracks.

I've never been able to fully get into Moonmadness, though it has my favorite all-time Camel track!
