| I listened to this album on Amazon Prime music unlimited and I was amazed. This predated YES but is actually better than YES. This band definitely influenced the bands of the 70's. |

One of my old favorites ...had this in college on vinyl of course in 1971....came out in 69. Still have it and on cd as well. I think Hendrix and Grace Slick (interested in the 20/20 sound claims) watched as some of it was recorded in the studio but I was not aware they had any hand in the writing or recording process.

| The late 60's was a time of experimentation and bands were exploring ideas not based on rhythm and blues. The Beatles forged the path with their studio art. Other bands were eager to follow and incorporated jazz and classical motifs into rock and roll. Hence progressive rock was born. |

| Psychedelic rock based on what I've heard. Maybe more prog sounding (what came to be known as prog later)than most bands of the era but only proto prog at best. It certainly didn't start prog rock all by itself. |

Kansas too. Apparently it was very influential at the time. The band might be most known for featuring a former member(or members I don't remember) from the Kingsmen(Louie Louie).

I wish some would stop using the word "true" to describe music. "True metal", "true prog", "true sound", what does it even mean? Was it all false or fake before it was "true"?

| Pat Metheny is great and he did an interview with Beato yesterday for about 1.5 hours. Highly recommended. It's as if both men want to promote each other as Rick has 2.5 million followers on YouTube and Pat has a Hugh tour in a few weeks. Symbiosis works in nature. |

I found an original copy in fine condition in a used vinyl store a few years ago for $15. I’d never heard of it before but a quick Google search sealed the deal. Surprised it isn’t more well known/regarded. Lifted this straight from Amazon: Escape Music is pleased to announce a European release with legendary rock band TOUCH and their new reunion album “Tomorrow Never Comes" featuring all of the original members. TOUCH is an American band from New York City formed in 1978 with Mark Mangold (keyboards and vocals), Glenn Kithcart (drums), Craig Brooks (guitars and vocals) and Doug Howard (bass and vocals). All previously had been in the last version of the band American Tears (releasing three albums on Columbia Records). Touch's first album was released on Atco in the U.S. and Ariola in Europe and their first singles, "Don't You Know What Love Is" and "When The Spirit Moves You" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Don't You Know What Love Is" was played heavily on AOR stations in the USA at the end of the 1970s and early '80's, and also did well in the Melody Maker chart in Great Britain. Touch was the first band to play at the inaugural Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington in 1980. A live version of "Don't You Know What Love Is" appeared on the compilation LP Monsters of Rock, documenting performances at the festival. Known for their memorable and diverse songs, stellar musicianship, lush vocal harmonies and dynamic stage performance, Touch is invariably on the list of TOP AOR Bands and their album is considered by many to be among the best AOR Melodic Rock albums of all time. The band have now reformed to create the new album "Tomorrow Never Comes", which is being hailed as their best work to date. Sounds like AOR. I realise this is not the same band mentioned by the OP but can't seem to find anything else. As far as 1968 , I think there were quite a few bands going that were creating Prog. The Nice - Ars Longa Vita Brevis was known to be influential to Yes and Genesis. I wonder if Touch were doing side long pieces using jazz and classical Bach compositional styles by any chance?
