Alright, the pickings are definitely getting slimmer now, and shame on me: this is where I'm gonna have to start to resort to including albums from "prog-related" artists... how disgraceful!   1. I thought an 1983-list was gonna suck big time, but these are all great. : Zanov - In Course of Time Reinhard Lakomy - Der Traum von Asgard The Residents & Renaldo and The Loaf - Title in Limbo Art Zoyd - Les espaces Inquiets Brother Ah and The Sounds of Awareness - Key to Nowhere The Residents - Residue of the The Residents Marco Antônio Araújo - Entre Um Silêncio e Outro Codona - Codona 3 Cos - Pasiones Klaus Krüger - Zwischenmischung -of course there's not much here for a classic prog-fan "purist" (although Entre Um Silêncio e Outro is very easy on the ears).

I have only 4 prog albums in my collection from 1983: Tales From the Lush Attic which is brilliant, Script For a Jester's Tear which is very good, Crises which is very good and Cadmium which is pretty good. And I've not heard another 1983 prog album I'd want to buy. But the best album of 1983 is The Crossing by Big Country, a masterpiece of the highest order, although not prog. ------------- A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life. |

The three that standout for me are Iron Maiden's Piece Of Mind, Genesis- Genesis and Bacamarte- Depois Do Fim. The first two are sentimental choices for sure. They are both so meaningful to me. Since I last frequented this place new wave/post-punk has seemingly become prog as well. In that case I might have considered: Bauhaus - Burning From the Inside The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge Danielle Dax - Pop-Eyes Fun Boy Three - Waiting -but like Cocteau Twins and The Police i don't really consider any of them prog.

Mike Oldfield - Crises 8. Asia - Alpha 9. Genesis - Genesis 10. Red Rider - Neruda I admit that last one is closer to "roots rock" than prog, but Ken Greer is such a phenomenal guitarist that I had to include it for this year's list. Also would like to give a shout out to Robert Plant's The Principle of Moments - not quite prog but it's impossible to remember the summer of '83 without thinking of that album!
