MULTIPLE VOTES ALLOWED.

No special reason or critearia; simply get nostalgic and choose a year (or years!) that resonate with you from the 1990's for whatever reason(s).

GO!

1994 because that's when I finally got to see Pink Floyd play at Earls Court, London.

'90s were great in my main interests such as arcade games, books, cinema, and music.

I'll choose 1996

Some stuff from that year that I like or love:

Arcade games: Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara, Metal Slug, Street Fighter Alpha 2 / Zero 2, Street Fighter EX, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, The King of Fighters '96,  Art of Fighting 3 - The Path of the Warrior, Dead or Alive, Samurai Shodown III & IV...

Albums: Therion - Theli, Opeth - Morningrise, In Flames - The Jester Race, Arcturus - Aspera Hiems Symfonia, Metallica - Load, Cradle of Filth - Dusk and Her Embrace / Vempire Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein, Iced Earth - The Dark Saga, Deep Purple - Purpendicular, Amorphis - Elegy...

Books: Robert Holdstock - Ancient Echoes, Gene DeWeese - King of the Dead, Clive Barker - Sacrament, Stephen King - Desperation / The Green Mile / The Regulators, Stan Nicholls - The Book of Shadows, Troy Denning - The Veiled Dragon, Richard Lee Byers - The Ebon Mask, Robert King - Realms of the Underdark, Dave Luckett - The Wizard and Me...

Movies: 12 Monkeys, From Dusk Till Dawn, Hellraiser: Bloodline, Cold Comfort Farm, The Arrival, The Cable Guy, Trainspotting, The Island of Dr. Moreau, Thinner, Twelfth Night, Ransom, Space Jam, The War at Home, Jingle All the Way, 101 Dalmatians, Scream...

Edit: Oh, there are some awesome TV series commenced in 1996, like; Dragonball Z, Millennium, Lexx...

P.S. Google helped. 1996 is really a very special year for me in entertainment. Perhaps only second to 2002.

I'll go for 93. Party year. Lots of clubbing, gigs, drinking and generally getting mashed up. Not a care in the world..

We went on the second scheduled night (October the 13th), which turned out to be the first night as there'd been a pre-show partial seating collapse on the 12th.

1993 and 1996 really, really resonate for me. I was only 5 and 8 respectively. Golden era Nicktoons and the twilight era of arcades, etc.

Anyone else own a Sega Saturn? Cool

1995.
I lost my virginity, got drunk for the first time...and discovered chili.

I feel like 1995 was a power year; things started feeling more modern, and everyone started looking forward to 2000, etc.

The 90's are my favorite decade still.

Ah... the age of innocence - but the music pretty much sucked big time. A nice decade to be alive though. It sort of peaked in 93, 96 and 99 - in both good and bad ways (for me personally).

1998:

I married someone I'm still married to today (a VERY life-changing experience)...

...and three fabulous movies:

1) Dark City
2) The Truman Show
3) You've Got Mail

Hi,

I wish I spent more time worrying about "favorites" so a poll like this would make sense for me. Sadly, I listen to music, not favorites, and there were a lot of things in all of those years that were far out ... and me choosing which one was the better/best?

IMPOSSIBLE.

1-) We don't spend time for "this", noticeably more than you. For this particular thread, I spent about 15 extra minutes for Google searching, but this was an exception. Normally my memory suffices for such stuff.
2-) We don't worry about such trivial things.
3-) This is not a music thread.
4-) It asks the years that "resonate with" us more. This is not a better/best poll.

You had better worry about and spend time for your cognitive faculties.

Hi,

Sad response in my book, and you do not seem to relate to the idea that I'm an artist in my own right and as such, all the other art out there is fine and wonderful, and I love it, however, it does not interfere with my own art, and neither is it (EVER) better or worse than my own art.

I can't help thinking that those were the words of someone that lacks an art that comes from the heart. Comments and ideas about the art, are superfluous for me, since they are AFTER THE FACT and just a thinking exercise that I find wasteful and contrary to my own art. Thus, all years are valuable and important for me, because the creativity NEVER DIED and I can smile that it continued to live! And this is what you are criticizing about me.

Makes me wonder about your respect and understanding of ART, and that includes rock music and progressive farts!

^ You don't sincerely wonder such things. All your concern is self-justification. I'll not discuss this further. Go on seeing everyone ELSE miserable, every different approach and understanding "sad". I don't care.
