Grantchester Meadows for me, as with Cirrus Minor or Julia Drean, it's Roger at his haunting best.

Definitely one of Roger's.

I'll give it to Several Species as its currently voteless.

Ok, now it's clear that I can't vote in this kind of polls. I'm used to consider all the PF albums as a single whole thing.

true, but not all their work is a single whole thing. Songs can be enjoyed separately.

Yes indeed and as a massive PF fan, even though it's important to listen to each album in its entirety, there are always tracks that standout for you.

Well, would Grantchester Meadows and Several Species be the same without the fly?
You are right, not all the PF albums are concept albums. Obscured by clouds it's just a collection of songs, but it's the way I'm used to listen to it. Voting a best song means excluding another, and honestly I can't choose. On Ummagumma studio side they are so different one from the other that it really depends on my actual state of mind.

I've always loved Sysyphus, truly one of a kind within the Floyd catalog.

you are taking this poll way too seriously.
Of course the order of songs on an album matters, songs are in a particular order for a reason, especially with Floyd. You are right here.

You should have left an option 'All of them'; I really cannot choose since this is one of my top Floyd albums... But for the sake of voting I will cast one for

The Narrow Way. And particularly part 3. I really wanted to have a good live version of this song, played by the whole band (though it actually sounds as if it was played by the whole band here), but the ones on The Early Years don't really get it right... which is strange, since usually their live versions of the early songs are better... yet in this case, instead of expanding, it even has the final solo shorter. Oh, and Gilmour should really come back to this song and play it live in his solo concerts. Also, I'm missing the live tracks in the poll (yeah, I guess they were not included because they are not studio and / or they would have left the studio tracks without votes).

I love the album, everything on this one is special. Very hard to vote really, all four have something great on offer. I'd vote for Rogers' two songs en bloc, but if I consider them individually, Sysyphus just about wins it with everything else not far behind.

I deliberately left them out as I shall also omit the other live albums in this series of polls. Essentially Ummagumma is two entirely disparate single albums that weirdly meld together to make a splendid double!

Grantchester Meadows, but in reality I have always found the studio cuts on this a bit of a mess and have never really enjoyed any of them.

When I take out this album I always play Sysyphus and Grand Vizier.  Several Species is nuts with Waters playing with tape loops.  Grantchester Meadows is calming but the best part are the effects with the stairs paper and the fly.  Most of Narrow Way sounds like it needs more work.  I went with Grand Vizier because who doesn't like a good drum solo. Smile

Yeah the Narrow Way wasn't Dave's best work, but then again he's never (for me) made an entirely satisfying solo album either.

I really like all of the tracks here, The Narrow Way in particular. Love the psych ambience to it and Part 2 have one of my favorite guitar riffs ever. The eerie Sysyphus is a close 2nd, and the experiments of Several Species and Grand Vizier's never fail to entertain me. Grandchester is a really nice tune too *fly SWAP!!*

Same for me. I don't think the studio experiments are all that succesful. I mean they have their moments, but not enough for me to revisit the C & D-side very often.

I have this album and actually listened to it a couple of weeks ago. However, I'm not really familiar with it enough to say which one I like best. Maybe part of that is that I don't really always pay that close attention to song titles. I do like several species though but not sure I would vote for it.
