I like The Naked Gun films, but Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is my favourite comedy movie of the '80s.
What about you?

Both are quite "rolling on the floor laughin your ass off" funny but Dirty Rotten Scoundrels have little more class. I like Mr Magoo with Leslie Nielsen as a favo0urite of hes comedies
The Naked Gun is also very funny, super silly

I have The Naked Gun trilogy on DVD and I like Dirty Rotten Scoundrels too, so I voted "Both".

The Naked Gun. I haven't seen everything Nielsen was in, but have been a fan of his comedic films going back to Airplane.

The "Naked Gun" series is definitely not my kind of humour.

I enjoyed Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Naked Gun. Voted for the former.
In Englsh language films, the first comedy to come to my mind is Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. The first one I thought of when thinking about it though in terms of favourite comedy of the 80s is Tampopo (a Japanese film).

^ Actually Monty Python is like a relative of mine. Beyond definition. You know, they gotta be somewhere in my life forever. The Meaning of Life is incredibly funny. But, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is more "moving", you know. Monty Python's outputs don't fully give the feeling of watching a "movie", in the traditional sense. Anyway, TMoL was out of my mind when I was saying DRS was my favourite comedy movie of the '80s. It has its special, unique place, of course.

From the list Naked Gun. But since everyone else is mentioning other movies, or complaining about what is listed (typical PA nonsense). I'll nominate This is Spinal Tap.

I consider "Toni Erdmann" and "Ödipussy" to be absolutely hilarious

My mother typically doesn't like anything she thinks is silly, stupid or slapstick. She probably wouldn't like those movies either. I think she liked airplane though(at least to some extent).

"Tampopo" is a great movie. By the way: Did you ever notice that eating and having sex is often combined in Japanese movies? I don't mean in the way of "eating while having sex", I mean as being central themes in a movie.

Hi,
I did not, and still don't care for these films ... at that time I enjoyed "A Fish Named Wanda" and "A Taxing Woman's Return" (1st Taxing Woman was great too!) ... and of course ... one of the best performances ever in a comedy ... BEETLEJUICE, which would likely get my vote here.

I was also going to say "A Fish Called Wanda". Definitely, laughed the most first time I saw it. And agree on Tampopo and the A Taxing Woman films. The Funeral was also good.
Voted for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

^ I absolutely love Beetlejuice, and liked A Fish Called Wanda (the latter is: "as far as I remember"). But, I don't really remember if I laughed in any of the scenes of the two, except for the "head shrinking" scene of Beetlejuice. Tim Burton's darkly humorous style is very captivating, but not the type that makes me "laughing in the aisles". Perhaps this is related to me having been a kid when I watched his earlier masterpieces.

^ They're different type of comedies, I think. Beetlejuice and Wanda are more witty whereas the two of your poll are plain nonsense... (almost). And I love nonsense! I prefer The Naked Gun. And I think The Naked Gun 2½ is even better/sillier...
