I was just listening to this album last night and I realized I really think it's a masterpiece. It's as colorful and well put together as Sgt. Pepper's, in places as cinematic as Rush, and all with its own empathetic flair. I also think many of its songs have strong proggy elements. 42 and Death And All Of His Friends especially strike me as crossover prog or prog pop. Anyway I know among most hardcore music fans its pretty cool to hate on these guys regardless, but I'm wondering if anyone else here happens to like this album in particular. ------------- Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :) |

X&Y was their last album I found interesting, although I've sort of grown out of it since. It's been a while since I last heard this one and Mylo Xyloto but I remember both being kind of a slog to sit through; I haven't bothered to check out anything they've made afterwards besides whichever nonsense of them I happen to catch on the radio |

I agree that Viva la Vida was the last really good Coldplay album, and I tried to give the two albums after a chance, but just couldn't get to the point that I liked them much, so I lost interest in them after that. I really enjoy that one and the ones that came before though, especially A Rush of Blood to the Head which has one of the best songs ever from them "The Scientist". Yes, it's a strange album (it has a few blank tracks on the CD and is quite an eclectic mixture of styles). I can't decide if it's genius or complete garbage.

It is a fairly good album. But in general, Coldplay is the musical equivalent of melatonin.
