Known best for his bass work with Cynic. Amazing Chapman Stick player. This one just kills me. Dead at 50...right after friend and band mate Sean Reinert.

I saw this news this morning.  I turned 50 this year, so it really hits home.  Especially with my own health issues.  RIP.

RIP

Wow. Sean Reinart passed away earlier this year at age 48.

This is very sad news. Cynic was a unique band and his bass playing was never anything but stellar. I've never quite understood why he was kind of on/off as a member, but I guess that's besides the point, as he played on all their releases (correct me if I'm wrong).

We lost two members of this legendary tech death fusion outfit this year. Malone was an incredibly versatile player in every sense of the word. Someone guard Paul Masvidal.

Very sad news. As far as I know, Masvidal and the late Sean Reinert owned the band name Cynic and Malone was a hired hand on the Cynic albums he played on.
