I know this may be Second Hand News by now, and maybe you Don't Want to Know, but I've heard Rumours that Fleetwood Mac have got back together again with a new line-up, following the departure of Lindsey Buckingham. It looks as if Lindsey's Never Going Back Again, but the two long-standing Fleetwood Mac Songbirds are still there in the line-up - who could forget Christine McVie's heartfelt rendition of Oh Daddy, or the emotive appeal of Stevie Nicks' Gold Dust Woman, amongst The Chain of hit songs and albums from Fleetwood Mac throughout the 1970's and 80's. There were Rumours that Christine McVie's song - You Make Loving Fun - was dedicated to her dog, as she was having an extra-marital affair with the band's lighting technician at the time and didn't want to cause any unnecessary flare-ups with her then-husband John McVie. I can't make a top 7 because i rarely listen to FM these days and when I do it's the Peter Green lead FM that gets my attention. Pre- Nicks + Buckingham anyway. I have a FM best of somewhere but I don't remember when I last listened to it. Most songs there are overplayed anyway...

Sorry to be Captain Obvious again, but I'd recommend the first Greatest Hits album if you want to listen to the best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. The album has the added bonus of including "Albatross" and several other well-known songs, which don't appear on any Fleetwood Mac studio album. |

Well... to be honest I'm old school in that I don't get into the more mainstream modern rock stuff very much but prefer the original blues and classic rock things from the old days. I did own the first 2 with Nicks when they came out but after the initial fanfare and radio overkill I never played them. I will say there are some nice non commercial tracks here and there by Buckingham but the radio stuff is simply not of interest to me. ------------- One does nothing yet nothing is left undone. I understand being sad about Rumours fall (just one notch, not the end of the world in any case). I can even accept Mirage endless dropping. But what remains a Mistery To ME is why with equal rating is that beauty under Future Games (which I like too, don't misunderstand me). Still, I face it with a smile

Peter Green played the guitar solo at the end of "Brown Eyes" on Side 3 of the Tusk album. I don't know how it happened, but it was a one-off, "just for fun" performance. He is not mentioned in the album's credits.

Certainly. I think the only place you can locate his solo albums in full, is on youtube. I think they are all better than most of the Fleetwood Mac albums he was on (except Then Play On). From: Rumours 4.00 to: Heroes Are Hard to Find 4.00 -there's at least half a star in difference. Maybe 4.25 - 3.75 is closer to how I feel.

I think every Fleetwood Mac albums is flawed (but I could say the same about Genesis) - even Rumours. And some of their best material ended up as singles only (or B-sides like Silver Springs). BUT I think people unable to enjoy some truly heartfelt, well composed and downright stunning AOR are missing out. sl*g.ing off a period that gave us timeless classics such Landslide, Rhiannon, Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, Storms, Sara, Gypsy and many more as commercial junk... Well, it just makes me feel sorry for that person really. |

It's the last Fleetwood Mac album to feature American Bob Welsh as well as being the first Fleetwood Mac album recorded in America, at Angel City Sound in L.A, shortly before Fleetwood Mac truly became an Anglo-American band with the addition of Lyndsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks for their next album, self-titled Fleetwood Mac. |
