I've been lucky enough to work with some great guitar players over the years - My old friend Tracy Story has helped me out here, adding an understated and beautifully played guitar part to a track I put together this month.  I think he has well and truly "sprinkled the fairy dust" on this one.

Please check out Tracy's page -

Most impressive, and atmospheric , track. Thank you for sharing.

Tim, just checking out your release 'Four Strings Good' on Bandcamp . Following you there.

Really intriguing , sort of Ambient Progressive Dub , if such a category can exist. I know that you have described it as 'bass guitar driven instrumentals' .  Ended up buying your discography.

Hope more people will give your work a listen.

Hi,

(welcome to PA btw!!!)

I would consider this just instrumental rock. I don't see the "ambient" sound, beyond the opening that is quickly thrown away and not used again in the song ... the opening itself is really nice and shows promise, but then, the whole thing simply turns into a "song".

Ambient, by definition is not quite about a song, but a simple living mechanism and experience, with no beginning and no end (so to speak) ... it's a slice of the real thing as it were.

Not to take away, obviously, by some very nice and enjoyable music, but I would be worried about trying to take this into areas that it is not and ends up being ignored.

I will take a more educated listen and check out some more, but my preferences are for more "ambient" and less "song" and as such, in a place like this, the idea is not going to be favored since here it is almost all about the "song" ... not even the music itself!

Still very nice and thanks for posting. Definitely worth a listen.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I've got to agree with Moshkito here that this isn't really what I'd consider to be majorly ambient as much as an instrumental prog song with a dreamy aesthetic and a lot of atmosphere. That said though, absolutely lovely track that I ended up replaying a few times, with a great recurring melody and some nicely played guitar that never disturbs that delicate atmosphere created. Very much enjoyed it and may end up checking out more

Tracy is such a great guitar player - I sent him the drums and three bass tracks mixed down, and he just added his thing - very sympathetic to the original lines I think - he never overplays here - very economical... Although he can shred with the best of them when required! :)
