A little birdy told me that people wanted polls that discussed bands other than those that are most known.  This list of songs are about our fine feathered friends.  Which of these soars the highest for you?

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a youtube video of Fly, Pelican Fly, but since it was the song that inspired this thread I have left it and hope that users have other ways of hearing it.  I intentionally left off some obvious songs involving Ravens, Geese and Larks.

Here is a link to the BandCamp page for Attention Deficit's Fly, Pelican Fly  %3ca%20href=" rel="nofollow - https://attentiondeficitmc.bandcamp.com/track/fly-pelican-fly "> https://attentiondeficitmc.bandcamp.com/track/fly-pelican-fly" rel="nofollow - https://attentiondeficitmc.bandcamp.com/track/fly-pelican-fly

I would have voted for Albatross by Fleetwood Mac if it had been in the poll. Smile

If they were listed on PA then it might have been included in the poll, but instead you can checkout Frequency Drift's song about an Albatross.

micky, you might like that Derek Sherinian song.  It might scratch that Latin music itch and no James LaBrie screaming vocals on top of it.

I was avoiding big 7 bands.  Although that is a more obscure song I will stick with my Big Big Train Crow song.

While I really like the Slapp Happy/Henry Cow number, who you say, yes it's an owl, when I think bird I automatically think of what may be my very favourite song from Comus, "Winter is a Coloured Bird". In fact, it's one of my very favourite songs in PA and has featured in various of my polls so I can't resist voting "other".

Fun poll! The list could have been very long. I was looking for Feathered Friends by Greenslade, or Mockingbird by BJH... Anyway, I cannot vote (probably not enough posts yet).

The Owl is brilliant!  There was an avian theme with Henry Cow and one could include 'The Tenth Chaffinch' along with 'Bittern Storm over Ulm' - scroll forward to the 80s and a post-Cow collaboration produced 'The Last Nightingale' in support of the striking miners.

I would like to mention two other tracks by Guru Guru. first "Chicken Rock":

and there is a German version of it too called "Des War I" (Bavarian dialect for "That's Me"; quite interesting because in German "war" is the past tense of "ist", which is German for "is", but in the Bavarian dialect it is the present tense of "is") with basically the same lyrics, just in German:

So many great songs on this list, it's quite hard to choose. I'll have to think very hard before I can vote.

But I was glad to see Attention Deficit in this poll. So, although I might have opted for Derek Sherinian, I'm giving my love to the Pelican.

I was originally going to use the Chicken Rock song and then decided to use the Woodpecker's Dream because I liked it better and it allowed me to use the Chicken Farmer's Song from The Flower Kings.  I was trying to go with one song per band and all different birds.

Quite a few interesting songs in this collection. Well done, ScottClap! I went for Joanna Newsom, but actually my favourite song of the ones you posted was the one by White Willow. Great stuff!

I think that the White Willow song may have been my favorite as well.   Sadly, I didn't think of hawks when I was trying to think of type of birds until after I posted the poll.  I saw a post about Hawkwind and that made me think to look for songs about hawks.

I updated the original post to add a link to the BandCamp page for Attention Deficit so that if anyone is interested they can listen to Fly, Pelican Fly.

Sorry to have to add my own perspective, but I can't resist injecting one of the most impressive, emotional songs I've ever heard in my entire life (one that I go back to time and time again for inspiration):

Roy Buchanan's "Fly … Night Bird."

This.

Every instrumental is about birds. It's also one of his masterpieces.

I guess that I should just be happy that nobody has suggested the Chicken Dance or The Bird is the Word.  The funny thing with PA is that you can always count on posters to post other responses.
