I found Cybotron - Colossus - Medusa on a compilation titled, "A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble (Exploding In Your Mind) - The Wizards Of OZ - Compiled And Mixed By The Amorphous Androgynous" (although the track is mislabelled on that compilation). However, Cybotron are listed in PA under Progressive Electronic (an appropriate sub-genre for this particular track).

Pretty cool. Definitely worthy of the prog kingdom. The problem probably resulted in that it didn't fit in any particular team's subgenre. That is a weak point here at PA. Which team rejected it? It could fit in for eclectic me thinks.

Found this band from Kazakhstan only recently (but actually they are national heroes in their country). The band is called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dos_Mukasan" rel="nofollow - Dos Mukasan , not an entirely prog band, but they have beautiful vocal harmonies.
Probably their proggiest piece, "Betpak dala" (means "A Hungry Steppe"), from their first LP (1976):

It's funny you should mention that, Dr Wu, because Fantasy's "Paint a Picture" album was the seventh album I reviewed here seven months ago, but reading back through my album review just now, it's an embarrassingly boring review to read through again, where I appeared to have had a sense-of-humour bypass and there's no real narrative flow to it either, so five stars for the superb album, but two stars for my poor review, or maybe I'm just being my own worst critic.

Mmh. Here it works. There's at least one other video with the original version, but that one doesn't work on my computer when I include it here, also it has a much worse sound quality. There are also a few live versions from the 2010s, apparently the band is touring again. If you're interested maybe search for "Lift Meeresfahrt" on youtube; I'm reluctant to replace a video that seems to work on this computer at least.

Obscure symph prog(not neo) from the 80's doesn't get much better than this. Interestingly, this is what I thought 70's Italian prog sounded like(before I knew any better although to some degree I might not have been too far off).

Hi,
Ohhh heck ... we can create a new genre, they did that all the time anyway to support their pet hamsters!
We can call it ... let's see ... CUBISTIC PROGRESSIVE ROCK ... for its inventiveness and fun lyrics!
That should do the trick!
A total worth while listen and very enjoyable and the lyrics are great ... you remember those Japanese flicks with the idiot turds in the front seat making fun of it ... this song fits it perfectly! We'll have to tell Buckethead the Prez's favorite words ... "You're Fired!"

That's Tony Williams' Lifetime, a well-renowned name in the world of jazz fusion, and the track Big Nick is also on their studio album (Turn It Over). So I don't think it is that obscure.
Incidentally it's a cover of a tune by John Coltrane, which he wrote as a tribute to fellow sax player "Big Nick" Nicholas.

It's a whole album, but anyway.
Taurus was a Danish band from the 70's who released this (their only) album in 1978. If I remember correctly it was produced by Finn Olafsson from Ache. Taurus later regrouped as the pop/rock band Tv-2, but that's another story.
For some reason there is no stereo pan in the video clip.

Reading my prior post I think it came off a bit dickish - sorry for that. Lifetime is fairly obscure if you don't happen to be a fusion head, and anyway I don't think this thread needs me to be the obscurity police!
Regardless, the Lifetime version of Big Nick is a good track that is worth raising on any thread. Here's a link:

Sorry for double posting but you added your post while I was typing mine. The Progg movement's produced some really good songs despite being political and stuff. However, I think that only Kapia was a true progg prog band. The other ones were mostly just rock. Yes, I don't think Trettioåriga Kriget is all that prog'y. ;)

Yeah, I know. There's nothing prog-like about, say, Hoola Bandoola Band, but I think this particular Contact track has a bit of it. Sure, it's relatively straight forward in terms of song structure, but the sound ot it, f.e. with the organ... They have other songs with no prog elements though.
