"Salome" is an opera by Austrian composer Richard Strauss. Right in the middle of the opera is the famous "Dance of the Seven Veils". Strauss wanted Salome to go completely nude for this dance, and many opera singers have done this. We just saw an interesting performance from a 2016 Italian production in which the seventh veil apparently is Salome's hair. The dancer (Beate Vollack) does not pull off a wig to become bald (now that would be something that would appeal to us Wink), but she uses her hair to hide her body. We liked this performance a lot; here a link (warning: full frontal nudity, which is why I don't post the direct YouTube link but a normal link):

...

Hi,

Just saw recently, Ken Russell's film of the same thing and it was changed to a sort of political thing around Oscar Wilde's time, and wouldn't you know it ... it was a bit different ... and, well ... very gay if there is a better word for it, and Salome did go nude and bald ... but she was not ... I don't even know which word to use!

Ken Russell, of course, is no stranger to nudity in films, and he turned the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) into an orgy ... in one film for sure!

It was actually a nice production, but its whole point was more about the censorship in English Theater at the time, than anything else.

Looking at this one now
