I actually know at least half of the albums in this poll and it won't come as any surprise that I voted for Jimi Hendrix, seeing as I chose him as my avatar.

As far as I know The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Brand X, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and Steely Dan are all listed in Jazz-Rock/Fusion and hence considered to be ProgRock.

I am just stating a fact. They are in the archives under Jazz-Rock/Fusion, whether you disagree or not.

I've heard of most of the artists in this poll apart from Jelly Jam.

| I don't care how PA defines prog. Jazz-rock/fusion will never be prog for me. Neither will Miles Davis, Black Sabbath, Bowie, or Metallica. All of those artist are in the archives and they are not prog.
I read some of your recent posts on getting Barbara D in the archives. Some of the reasons for not letting her in were absurd, but yet they let other artists, like I mentioned, in. Makes no sense to me, and either does calling Jazz-rock/fusion prog.

^ Mahavishnu Orchestra and Brand X are without question prog rock through and through. Jazz elements don't disqualify them

^ i'd agree with that! Maybe they'd be better under crossover if they should be here at all. They are jazz-rock but seem too poppy to be where they are now

There are blues, country, and artists from other genres that could be labeled prog. Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Danny Gatton, and numerous others could be in the PA archives. Where do you draw the line?

^ no wonder you're grumpy if you can't understand why Les Paul is NOT prog and Mahavishnu Orch is! LOL

Dude, chill. Nobody has ever questioned that jazz-fusion is a valid form of progressive rock. Read all the definitions if you must. There is definitely a gray area that gets crossed on PA especially in the early days but the Mahavishnus and Brand X are about as prog as you can get in the context of jazz rock. That's pretty much universally agreed upon NOT my conclusion

Bowie, Black Sabbath and Metallica are under prog-related, because of their influence on other prog artists. Bands like Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rainbow were an influence on what would become progressive metal.
Also Miles Davis deserves a place here just for his electric period music.

^Les Paul was a huge influence to anyone who played guitar. He created one of the most iconic guitars ever. And he developed many of the techniques that formed the backbone of modern music recording, including multitracking, overdubbing and tape effects. Seems to me that influence is greater than any prog-related artist currently listed on PA..
As for Miles, his Kind of Blue album, which is superb, is in the PA top 100 albums of all time. It is not from his electric period and is not Jazz-rock/fusion. It is absurd to label that release as such.
