It's already a long time that it seemed that Moon Safari were getting ready their new album Himlabacken Pt. 2.
Does anybody know what's the situation? Why the long delay?

Funny, I don't think so, they performed at Cruise to the Edge 2018 and there are also videos on YouTube from September 2018, featuring Simon (keyboardist & singer and main composer).

Read somewhere that Simon was in detox from alcohol and that the band were still working on the album, trying to finish it. I don't think he leaves definitively.

I recently picked up lover's end and was wondering the same thing. It seems they might be in the Rush/PT/TFK category of leaving their fans hanging(at least as far as new releases go).
I saw them at Rosfest in 2017 which wasn't that long ago. I kind of doubt they broke up or antying like that. This is the way it goes with most prog bands who don't do this full time(which again is most prog bands).

They will be performing next year at the Night of the Prog festival in Germany, so they're still very much active:

When I read "Moon Safari", I thought you meant the album by the French duo, Air. I didn't realise there was a band with that name too. Going by the name alone, they sound like a Space Rock band.

Not at all, they are fantastic symphonic prog. You NEED to listen to their double album Blomljud, I rated it with 5 stars (masterpiece) and I still think it deserves the rating. Their strongest points are great vocal harmonies and keyboards. And they sound always happy, joyful, bright.
Their later albums Lover's End, Lover's End Pt 3 and Himlabacken Pt 1 are a bit more commercial but still very good, melodic Prog.

^ You got it just right, Gerard, exactly my thoughts too !
Saw them live a couple years ago and it was really good - although didn't play the excellent Moonwalk
(I complained to Petter after the show and he humbly apologized )

I'm sure I'll like Moon Safari if they're Symphonic Prog. That's my kind of music. At least I won't have any trouble remembering the name of the band, with them sharing the same name as my Air album.

Moon Safari sounds like a mix of CSN and Yes. Very optimistic. The double album Blomljud and their Epic song release - Lovers End Pt 3 Skelleftea Serenade are Masterpieces. If you like upbeat happy symphonic prog, exquisite harmonies, and memorable compositions. You'll be pleased.

If Moon Safari sounds like a combination of Crosby, Stiils & Nash and YES, then I'm almost bound to like them as CSN and YES are two of my favourite bands.
I think I've finally figured out how the quoting system works here.

Their followup album A Doorway to Summer is also a great listen. I actually like it slightly better than Blomljud.

Very good news today for the fans - they are in the final stages of a new album, to be released very soon (?).
Maybe will come out first on bandcamp (just guessing, since I received the e-mail note from there)

I realize I'm responding to a 4 year old post but just to clarify, A Doorway to Summer was actually their debut :) I've got all their albums and all are excellent, although their most recent (Himlabacken 1) was the most uneven. I think Lovers End gets panned for having shorter songs, but honestly I probably listen to the songs on it as much as Blomljud if not more these days. They really learned how to condense a lot of emotion into a short space on that one.

I recently got into this group, and I concur that they are great. However, Blomljud had too much content, not enough reward for me. I have a similar problem with TFK. I like it all, just don't find myself coming back to it. The latter two albums (plus the EP) are where it's at for me. Still very upbeat, but an underlying sadness as well. They balance a wider range of emotions, whereas the first two (written when the main lyricist was in a strong relationship) are just an onslaught of happy. To have two full discs of it became tedious. Still good though.
