The amount of talent in Flying Colors is off the charts. All but the singer dude. Anyway, they do nothing for me. At most I would rate their CD's as 2 out of 5 stars. I can't think of a worse supergroup ever. What are your thoughts?

I'd rate them around 6 out of 10, good but not brilliant. There are a couple of great songs on the first album (Blue Ocean and another I forget the name of) but haven't bothered much since.

I like their music, but they seem too "produced" at times.

I sampled some of their stuff a few years ago and it did nothing for me. Maybe it's time to try again

I actually like them. Not at the top of the list of course, but I enjoy their music. They seem to get together and write their music rathe quickly, which makes them sound a little unaccomplished (as a band of course). I guess this is a situation that happens a lot these days. Artists are committed to many projects/bands at a time, they don't really take the time to explore, improvise, rearrange, etc, so it's hard to get very far.

I only heard their first album but didn't like it very much.

For what they are attempting to do which is obviously not full blown prog I think they are very good.

I like them, but don't love them, so I don't really know how to answer. I guess it should be Yep.

I actually prefer them over Transatlantic to whom I would apply the 'most overrated supergroup ever' moniker. The DVD they recorded in Switzerland is very enjoyable.

I find Transatalntic good, but they can get proggy by the numbers. However, I do love The Whirlwind very much.

As far as my own taste (or distaste) for progressive rock, there is one simple rule that has yet to fail me: I draw the line at Neal Morse.
------------- And if you can't be with the prog you love, honey, love the prog you're with.

Wow. Why all the nopes? Is it because they aren't full blown prog?

A big fat YEP for me. Their albums can be rather inconsistent, but at their best, they're everything they should be. I may skip a track or two once in awhile, but the highs are so high, it makes it all worthwhile.

Nope, a kind of music by the pound.

I could care less if they were a prog band. For me, the music they write is bland and boring. It's embarrassing with all the talent they have.

Yes, I like them but I thought the first album was more consistent than the second. The last three tracks of Second Nature are particularly good however. I'm wondering what the new album will be like, I was a bit underwhelmed by the single track they recently released.

Not a huge fan but I enjoy both albums. That said, the new song is awesome in its Muse-like vibe.
I would think the Neal Morse haters would like this band as he doesn't exert a whole lot of influence over the band and its output. (And that, to me, is Flying Colors' greatest shortcoming!!!)
Either way, give me Transatlantic any day of the week!!!
