My wife has a passion for 80's pop music(I cannot stand most of it)
I have a passion for prog(she can't stand most of it)
Needless to say we don't play music while being intimate.

yes and we are too cerebral people.
For me there's nothing like smoking/vaporising a good one while listening some good krautrock (among others) on my 10000 € hifi system. Eargasm is better than orgasm!

huumm...from prog not really, the visceral "Zeit" by TD can be a good try.
one of the best album I've heard to experiment sex is "cellule 75" by Luc Ferrari (a classical contemporary artist): very SEXADELIC.

Zeit has been proposed by many (on other forums or discussions) as
proper for this activity,just because it's very dark,very settled,very
concentrated on slow movements, yet I still do not see it fit for making
love...It's just too obscure and sharp,in the matter of sounds,to give
me the feeling that I am relaxed...

anything with a lot of sighing women in it. "Machine Love" by Mother
Gong from the first album of their "Robot Woman" trilogy is a good one.
another good one is the "infinity" track from "666" by Aphrodite's

ecstasy)

My first time listening to Espíritu’s Crisálida album was during
sex. True story. It was actually at a friend of a friend’s house. This
friend’s friend had just bought new bed-sheets, so we wound up spending
the next hour or so in a nearby laundromat, getting things clean before
said friend returned home.
We all kinda laughed about the incident afterwards. We wound up
watching some Wim Wenders movie afterwards (I think it was Until the
End of the World).

Tried sex while listening to CURVED AIR's "Air Conditioning" a couple of
years ago. Seemed a good idea at the time (something with do with the
cannons climaxing at the end of "Vivaldi With Cannons"). Never again - all
those rhythm changes. Complete waste of 40 minutes and a stunning 17
year old redhead (my girlfriend at the time).

There's truly an euphoric aspect in this album, might work well!
If it's up to me, I would choose some baroque classical music, like BACH or VIVALDI. There's some associations with these and sex, which amuse me alot.
Maybe it's better without music...

awwww hun- it can be pretty over-rated trust me! I lost my virginity at the age of 18...and I SWEAR: if I lost it any earlier then my brain would've fallen out. LEt alone my intelligence. It's only great under certain circumstances- apart from that it can only way-lay you in your ambitions.
Especially if you're a woman. (Though I'm guessing your not- but I thought I'd just add that in as the RandomFactOfTheDay)

Hehe- well to be honest this current one was from Alexi Sayles 'Other side of town': if you havn't heard it it's basically a piss-take of 80's crap-pop- Filled with the most random lyrics in the world. Before I had a quote from Porcupine Tree and before that: Genesis quotes.

Remember the famous erotic song "Je t'aime... mais non plus"? Oui, the one where the woman and the man (especially her) keep saying "oooh, je t'aime" and sighing in their sexual pleasure with the soft background featuring organ. The man begging to stop. (Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsborough, late 60's.) Gotta admit, it makes one a bit horny - but firstly amused in its ridiculousness.
Oops, the topic was PROG-related. Well, I haven't done it with prog as far as I remember. Probably I'd choose YES, e.g. Turn of the Century & Awaken & And You And I. Oh yes, I once used Renaissance album Novella to set the intimate mood, and she, new to prog, liked it.
