Simple, diversity. As the bad-boy conservative and sometimes fly-in-the ointment here, I have to say it's a real education discussing (and sometimes arguing!) with the different cultures present here. Prog is without a doubt the most diverse of the R&R sub-genres. So naturally it's going to attract people from all over.
I've been to several other music oriented forums (Beatles, Hendrix, Jazz, Blues and whatever) and they're much more limited in their scope. Prog covers much more ground. And thanks to the meticulous management of Max and Maani to keep the topics open to subjects beyond Prog. Good job, guys!
Now if we can just get more ladies here!

You know, the thing I like the most here if the multiple cultures present here. It's so great to be able to share with all those people. We realise that no matter where you are earth, we all just fu*king love music!

Yup, the only thing missing... and still, I doubt we'll get some. Maybe if we'd change the site colors to pink?

Hey Doc,
I can imagine you in your old age, hobbling around some psychiatric ward, with soup stains on your shirt and smelling of boiled cabbage, trying to convince the nurses that you are George Washington...

I think it is ok to discuss hard topics and be passionate about it.Sometimes I have resorted to name calling ("racist" etc )and that is wrong. There is nothing wrong with describing an idea or sentiment as "racist" but to openly attack someone in this way is unfair.
Wow,did I really just write that?
I guess that I am saying that whilst I dont necessarily like what MarkTheShark and others write, I enjoy reading his views, thinking about them and replying to them.Sometimes I will post the opposite of my real beliefs for either "devilment" or to progress the discussion. The Doc is worse than me-if you re-read everything he writes you would realise that he is either completely mad (see post above) or completely obnoxious! But never as obnoxious as me!
I tip my hat to my fellow blow-hards and long live intelligent discussion.

It's because he's now all growed up into a Forum Leader...he now realises the expediency in throwing a sop towards showing restraint and moderation, just for Maani's benefit....
