Hey all,

Happy to be among the prog rockers of the internet. Delving into the likes of The Mars Volta, Yes and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard has been one of my favorite past times as of late. Hoping to find some interesting recommendations. I don't have a very storied history with the genre. Helpful tips down any paths you find exhilarating are much appreciated. Any band and every era seems exciting.

Welcome aboard! If you like The Mars Volta, a spiritually similar band is The Dear Hunter; also evolved from a post-hardcore band, but went down the route of deeply narrative driven symphonic music rather than the instrumental intensity of the Mars Volta. Still, you can hear some of that common origin.
