| Try "Once Again" by Barclay James Harvest. Great album and features great use of orchestra on "Mocking Bird" and "Galadriel". It manages to avoid the cheesyness of some orchestral albums (and of course features the Jaws Harp on one track). |

A (too) obvious suggestion is Atom Heart Mother. Ever tried Renaissance? The Live at the Carnegie Hall is magnificent I forgot to mention Mike Oldfield's Exposed: it has a beautiful rendition of Tubular Bells (on par with the original one but with different arrangements) and the best version of Incantations |

With violin there are some great fussion bands, like Mahavishnu
Orchestra, Area or Arti e Mestieri. Though, if you can't stand jazz, I
suggest you After Crying, and amazing band (De Profundis, for example)

I ment on Concerto Grosso they sounds more like a classic hard rock band (the guitar riffs, the Hammond...), but with orchestra accompaniment. That's very obvious in Nella sala vuota, the live extempore last track. Yeah, they are progressive for sure, but not in the "symphonic prog" sense. |

ok i will download the tracks of this webpage of the following bands: PFM AFTER CRYING BARCLAY JAMES HARVEST THE NEW TROLLS and ISiLDURS BANE if anyone got some other mp3's of these artists that is more symphonic than the ones provided on the webpage please let me know. ah well have checked out the mp3's and every band was very promising. PFM-was very interesting and certainly something to look into The New Trolls-Was excellent and had a very dramatic violin play and some strange drum rhytms. Barclay James Harvest-With the song mockinbird was interesting although abit cheesy lyrics it had a great orchestration. After crying-Was also interesting but the song was about 3 and a half minutes so i did not get a very good impression about it. And Isuldurs bane had a 12 minute instrumental track that was showing some great experimental symphonic prog...are they just doing instrumentals or do they include vocals...if so i would have liked to hear a track with vocals... Anyways all is great stuff and thanks for the really excellent recommandations
