Pink Floyd - Echoes Babylon - The Mote in God's Eye King Crimson - Court of the Crimson King StarCastle - Diamond Song Smoke Rise - Survival Gypsy - Gypsy Queen Gentle Giant - On Reflection Styx - Little Fugue in G Minor Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Jerusalem Le Orme - Contrappunti
I am a huge fan of fugues, and the use of counterpoint. One reason I love Prog Folk, and renaissance style prog music (and the only reason I love Gentle Giant as much as I do).

Oh yeah-that song is an absolute musical tour de force! All five members bring forth incredible virtuosity and somehow they harness what should have been absolute mayhem into a coherent whole, run through contrasting movements, but always propelling forward with great energy. It is the ultimate exposition of what Yes were capable of in both composition and execution.

A couple great choices. If it wasn't for Fountain of Salmacis, Slippermen would have likely been mine too. I don't like Renaissance at all (except the debut album with Jane Relf), but Can You Understand is the one Annie song I really like

I have my top 5 very well defined, but after that I really find difficult to choose whom I like better than the others, so: - Pink Floyd: Shine on you Crazy Diamond (all 9 parts, that's actually my very favourite song of all). - Yes: Awaken (specially the Keys to Ascension version). - Dream Theater: Octavarium. - Rick Wakeman: Arthur. - Mike Oldfield: Ommadawn part 1.

I really love that album. I'm just waiting for the new re-recorded version to arrive, actually... I hope it's got some good stuff to enjoy besides what we already know. I believe Rick himself considers the song Arthur to be his best song.

Rick has not ever been my big favourites as a solo artist, but I used to listen his three first solos as the days of my progfinding, so I have lots of warm memories with them.

Hi,
Sadly, I don't do songs ... I only do full albums.
I just can't separate pieces within a Symphony, or Concert by anyone ... it is all about the artist, not the song, for ME!
If I were to choose the albums, they would include AD2's Yeti and Dance of the Lemmings, and then CAN's Future Days and Soon Over Babbalooma. Choosing a "song" in those albums is nutz for me! It's impossible!
