Steve Hackett was one of the first to use tapping. He does it on Hogweed, Shadow of the Hierophant and some others as well.

You can see the tapping first hand: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9047 - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9047  .

BILLY SHEEHAN is pretty good at bass tapping anyways the best guitar tapper is STEVE VAI also there is a guy in norway wich taps using two different guitar meaning that he plays the bass-walk on one guitar and then the melody on the other...very fun to watch.

While he may not tap (on bass at least), Tony Levin plays an awesome Stick, and also approximates the sound on bass with his "funk fingers"

A walk in the woods and I will try
Something under the trees that made you cry
It's so erotic when your make up runs

Now i wonder what that is supposed to mean...

Hehehehe.....

Keep wondering...

(Edit) Naw, don't wonder: It's a song about the birth of a serial killer. But then you probably already knew that...

I've got a tutor video at home by Stuart Hamm - he does a lot of bass tapping on that.

I thought this thread would be about tapdancing...

...what a disappointment...

Good choices - nice examples of Hamm's tapping on Radio Free Albumuth - including a take on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

I bought a bass tap tutor book (with CD) for my daughter for Christmas, but have to go home and remind myself of details - so will add details later - author: Stuart Clark???.

Took the words right outta my mouth. Jerry... contains some mind-blowing tapping. Check out a live vid of them doing that song for the full effect. I have one from MTV's Helloween Party 1991, and it's jaw-dropping.

it just came to my mind that all the famous stick (and Warr guitar) players are practically bound to play tapping, so you can also check out Tony Levin's work with KC in the 80's (Elephant Talk is a great example of stick playing) or Trey Gunn.

You should avoid tapping, when this one is present!
