In 1982, when I was 12 years old, my brother, who is ten years older than I, and I watched a movie about the Roman Bunka Band called "Dein Kopf ist ein schlafendes Auto" ("Your Head Is a Sleeping Car") and were fascinated by the amazing music. My brother immediately went and bought the album next day, and we both listened to it very often.

In the 90s my brother decided to only listen to classical music from now on, and so he gave his record collection to me. This album, however, somehow got lost when I moved house in the 90s, which I deeply deplored. The album (and the CD version of it) is a rarity, So I was extremely pleased when I discovered it on YouTube yesterday. The CD bonus track is a live one (as is one of the original tracks on the vinyl).

So let me now introduce to you one of the IMHO best albums ever. The first three tracks are good but not sensational, but then the live track "The Heat" comes up, and from there on things really get cooking. The bonus track is as good as the other great tracks on the album.

Jean had never heard the album and was ecstatic about it. Please listen in and tell me your opinion.

Thanks for sharing. I was gonna say we should add it to the site but it looks like it's already here under Krautrock however it sounds more like jazz-fusion to me.

Don't have time to listen to the whole thing now but sounds really good!

There are a lot of influences - jazz-rock. oriental music, even punk. Roman Bunka himself actually called the music "Afghani Punk", and there are definitely some punk influences here (which is not a bad thing at all; it brings a certain rawness and freshness to the music).

I actually added Roman Bunka myself years ago, though I was apparently signed in with Jean's name (that happens sometimes with two people in the same household being on the same site).

The album is listed under "Krautrock" because Roman Bunka is German, though he grew up in Bagdad (he is the son of a diplomat). He also is the lead guitarist of the German band Embryo on many albums, which is where I originally knew him from. So I decided to add him under "Krautrock".
