A New World Record, but it's very close for me.

What you'll say?

Love both but Crime of the Century is in my top 10 fave albums.

Crime of the Century, and it's not even close.

this is easy for me---not a fan of ELO---am a fan of Supertramp---so Supertramp.

Supertramp. I'm not a massive ELO fan after Eldorado.

pffff...figures... Micky from Mars.. the rest of you.. no clue where you all are from.  LOL

not even remotely close....

the brilliant opening track slays anything on that Supertramp album... only the best of what Supertramp did. And it wasn't this overrated album. Breakfast in America..  can touch the brilliance of Jeff Lynne and the boys did here.

Both great, but I don't think ELO ever recorded anything as good as COTC.

COTC is a masterpiece from start to finish, and I'm ashamed to say that for many years, I just didn't see it, but then at one point I thought Marillion were one of the best prog rock bands ever, so go figure!

COTC by light years.

NWR isn't even an ELO top 5 album with me.

COTC is one of those albums where every track is superb, and I never tire of listening to the whole thing end to end.

Supertramp on this one. I liked ELO until "El Dorado", after that, I lost interest.

I prefer the Supertramp album.
Btw, Triumvirat toured with both bands in the same year (1975) in North America.

Oh, stop it already with these ludicrous comparisons.

They're about equal for me. Both 8/10ers. No vote.

I see where this thing is going ; 2 quite Commercially successful albums that teeter on the brink of outright Pop music, along with the more clever, boundary-pushing ideals of Prog-rock, all meshed in an acceptable, compact package.
To me, ELO were far more eclectic in their approach than Supertramp. Though I prefer the 'tramp overall.

Although I like ELO - A New World Record, Supertramp - Crime of the Century is one of my favourite albums, so that gets my vote by quite a large margin.

Crime of the Century is one of the best ever, but ELO is amazing, too...

I think the first 4 ELO have a decent prog approach with accessible songs.....after that they became a pop vehicle for Lynn.
Supertramp always seemed like 'prog lite' to me though with some decent tracks here and there.
That ELO album is pop all the way ,,,Do Ya is a decent rocker but taken from when Lynn was with The Move.
I suppose Crime is the better album....track for track regarding a prog theme.. yet imho it's an overrated work.
