Hey all. I was just curious as to what you all use to listen to your favorites while traveling? I am looking for a good way to take my music with me as I frequently travel 4+ hours away from home for days at a time. Thanks in advance.

Maybe you should look into a NAS? A device that allows you to stream everything directly from your home computer (providing you've made digital copies of your collection or indeed buy digitally).

I am one of the low tech guys myself so I'm still using a 16 GB iPod. The sound is pretty good, but then again I always make high quality MP3s, which (I think?) is the most important aspect if you're looking for great sound. That and of course a decent pair of earmuffs.

Maybe you're not too late for a great Spotify deal, which gives you full acces to high quality music of almost every artist which costs you just a buck for 3 months. You can download then if you want to listen without internet connection.
Another recommendation is Comply foam tips of you use earphones, always fit the ear perfectly and reduce noise quite nicely. They are a bit expensive though, but they were included when buying my Brainwavz earphones.

Perfect, thank you all. I think I am going to look more into the NAS that was mentioned as I hate using my phone. I have tried Spotify in the past, but it drains my battery too fast.

For traveling purposes strictly...for on foot and such.
A very simple 2 part sound chain. ASTELL&KERN AK JR (it's a high quality digital audio player that supports any audio format you can think of and it has a killer DAC (Wolfson 8740 chip) built inside the player. Also supports micro SD cards, so gig space is endless. Secondly, the BLUE MOFI headphones (original edition.) these headphones have a very good quality built in analog amplifier, so actually any player that you choose to use will act as a pre amp and you have 2 amp settings (active and passive mode) which allows for either 12DB gain in overall volume or 7 DB gain in bass response. . The Mofi's are built like a tank. Made for the street, however some are a little put off by the weight. They weight 1 pound. Not a big deal at all I feel. Anyway the JR + the Mofi's are a great street rig. You'll be in reasonable HIFI heaven while blocking out public nonsense.
I use this pairing daily and it's a great investment, especially on your sanity. :)
fair warning though. These fine pieces of audio heaven will run you close to 800$ USD and I know that may seem like a lot to spend, but I assure you it's actually a real steal in the world of HIFI audio.

Home : cds
Car : cds
Outside the house & car : mp3

My real home sound system collect dust in the closet...I have good neighbours and they don't really deserve that kind of torture.
