It's amazing that fantastic American sci-fi writer Robert Sheckley is famous in the USSR & post-Soviet space, Italy and Poland - while the western audience almost do not know him and his works. In my appreciation, he has written no less than 150 cult short stories and no less than 10 cult novels.
My personal Top5 of his novels is:
1. Options
2. Mindswap
3. Minotaur's Maze
4. Journey Of Joenes
5. Dramocles

Sheckley was prog-related to psychedelic to plain avant-garde sci-fictionist.

"I used to be afraid that I was going out of my mind. Now I am afraid that I am not going out of my mind" is his quote.

Do any westerners on the forum know of him?

Of the comic/absurdist speculative fiction writers of the 60s and 70s I prefer John Sladek over Robert Sheckley. Oddly my favourite novel by Sheckley is The Game of X, which isn't SF.

What?
