keywords for this poll is that many of these bands utilize many factors which they all in some way shares. they combine the musicstyles found in 60s and 70s in an amalgam sound. the elements is folk rock , psych, glam, baroque pop, funk, disco, rnb, hard rock, heavy metal and prog. they also utelize elements from other art forms, like stage, costumes, drama, poetry, etc.

i allow multiple votes,  one can like more then one band here

Roxy and ELO are my two favorites on that list,  but I have listened to most of them over the years.

I absolutely LOVE Rick Davies (he is the real Tramp to me, not Hodgson)

This poll just prompted me to look up Mr. Tramp to see what he is up to.  Unfortunately, I see that Rick is suffering from a very serious cancer.  Let's hope for a Rick Davies recovery folks.  Unhappy

Voted for ELO twice not because they're particularly artsy but fun and popsy + I love them twice as much as the rest (but they're all alright especially Roxy Music).

Sweet, Styx, and Queen.  Tramp and Sparks are up there too.  All are fun.

Sorry to hear Rick Davies of Supertramp is battling the big C, God I hate that disease.

This poll is a farce. Delete it, and restart it with a single vote per person.

^ I think it was meant to allow votes to multiple bands, not to allow abuse.

The Queen votes may be either abuse or caused by someone who does not understand the multiple voting mechanism completely and thinks his vote did not come through. I think that the multiple voting mechanism is prone to improvement and I made a suggestion some two years ago, but there was no reaction: No radio buttons, but check boxes: you click on the check boxes you want to vote for and when these are selected you'll click on the "Cast My Vote" button. There will be far less chance of abuse.

^Why not implement the option of a fixed number of votes? That would prevent any abuse I guess.

^To a certain extent, I think. The number of votes should be less than or equal to the number of slots (which allows the troll to give 9 votes to Queen in this thread).

Queen, but Supertramp are close on their tail, but they never topped COTC IMO.

There was a good documentary about 10CC the other night. I find most of what I've heard by them quite irritating, but the documentary did rekindle my interest in Godley & Crème.

If one reads between the lines the poll question is actually: Which of these bands has the most pathetic loosers as their fanbase.

That is strictly your oppinion amiright, and has no real value as a judge of the intent which the poll presumes to have, which is based on fun, curiosity, demographic and quantitativ evaluation of what can be redeemd as one of music and art rock most cherrished goals. That goal is to entertain, to engulf, to energize, to emphesize certain moods, emotives, exietment, a physical surge of physical and mental thrill of a sublime moment - to feel enriched. Which all bands and most certainly these picked bands clearly in some way or another has or had a their aesthetic aim.

God save the Queen from exuberant fanatics. I can understand the embarrassment. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, such a poll is merely an accessory for discussion. When I do such polls I'm more interested in the discussion than the results, and since there has been discussion, I am reluctant to lock it (to me that seems unfair to various people who actually took the time to write here and may be trying to engage in discussion).

It's funny in a way, but I guess cause my tastes are no popular enough, I have done lots of multiple vote polls and never do I think has anyone abused them. The biggest abuse to me has been people not voting at all.

My polls have simply not attracted the zealous fanboys (or fanboy since it only takes one and I should not presume that it is a boy at all) as certain bands seem to.

Somebody found my cookie jar.  I admit I have a weakness for all the bands in the poll.  When I have an aural sweet tooth, I reach past my Unexpect, Zappa, and King Crimson albums for my hidden stash of Queen, Styx, ELO, Sparks, or Super Tramp.

I admit I am a Queen fanboy (though not a boy in actuality). I've been loving them since I can remember.
But the thread opener started another same thread after my abuse - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=109828" rel="nofollow - "the serious edition" - so one of them should be locked.

There's no Naked Lunch sex toy reference in this one, unlike the other. ;) Rather than closing either poll, which are not exact duplicates, since the other one is the "serious" one, then perhaps this one could go to Just For Fun, or as I like to call it, the place where all serious topics that turned-out silly go to die. I'm not saying that that's necessarily true, I just like to call it that.
