Estonian progressive metal band X-Panda is going to release their second studio album "Reflections" on 10.10.2016
X-Panda was founded in 2009 in Tartu,
Estonia. Their critically acclaimed debut album Flight of Fancy (2011)
was nominated album of the year in metal category of Estonian Music
Awards. X-Panda has been performing at music festivals in Latvia,
Finland and Lithuanina. The band has played several times in Holland:
Progmotion festival in 2014 followed by concerts at Cultuurpodium
Boerderj, W2 Poppodium and Den Bosch in 2015.
The style of X-Panda can be described as energetic and theatrical, it is both progressive while simultaneously accessible and
catchy. Their music has a powerful melodic edge as well as a great
metallic basis as well as jazz fusion hooks and enhancements - it is a
mixture of progressive metal, fusion, industrial and motion picture
soundtracks. Fusing diferent genres and using live visuals enables the
band to create shows with wide spectrum of emotions and dynamics
Singer Tamar Nugis says:
For some time we have been working on our second studio album. We
have been especially active for the last year. In the autumn 2015,
Kaarel, our composer took a three months hiatus from his other
activities and concentrated on composing in the middle of the forests of
Viljandi county. The recording process started at the beginning of
2016. First- our drummer laid down the beats in Finland, Sonic Pump
Studio and in the following months we recorded the guitars as well bass
guitars in Tallinn.
Our album is special also because we involved an orchestra and a choir into the recording process.
X-Panda got help from Tartu University Symphonic Orchestra
(conductor Lauri Sirp) and E STuudio Youth Choir (conductor Külli
Lokko). We’re really pleased that we managed to hold a recording session
involving so many people!
