I can only list three.

My top three of all time is
King Crimson
Yes
Bubu
Bringing it up to 5 would be tough since there aren't many artists that I'm a "collectionist" for besides the above three; a lot of the stuff I listen to is from either one-album wonders or artists that had 2-4 incredible albums and then generally patchy discographies that would prevent me from calling myself a fan of the band...
If I had to add another two, it would probably be between:
Harmonium
PFM
Birds and Buildings

Always a tough question...my musical tastes have changed over the course of my 10 years or so of prog exploration, but at this point in my 26 years of life, I'll go with:
5. Devin Townsend
4. The Mars Volta
3. The Dear Hunter
2. Opeth
1. Pain of Salvation
There is so much I could say about all of them, but I'll just leave it alone.

That's cheating!
Leaving out jazz acts represented on PA because they accidentally made some complex fusion-rock records in the early 70's. These have proved their stamina for a decade or two and will always be essential to me:
Can
Magma
King Crimson
Art Zoyd
Van Der Graaf Generator/Peter Hammill

Right now: Radiohead Jethro Tull Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson Tool Pink Floyd (this one is in the making)
I would like to come back to this list in a year or so to see what has changed. I suspect a lot.

It may not be 100% accurate, since with prog I have gotten to know so many artists I do love. But it's been in my mind for a while already that if I had to make a top artists list for me, I could only go for 5, if I try to put more I would start having too many doubts about which ones would make the cut or not. However, my top 5 would be: 1. Pink Floyd. 2. Yes. - Dream Theater. - Rick Wakeman. - Mike Oldfield.
I'm only sure Pink Floyd and Yes are number 1 & 2, the other 3 I'm not really sure. And I have to include this solo artists because... well, those are my favourite artists.

There are a lot (a LOT) of artists not on the website, wich are progressive (Tears for Fears, Rupert Hine, Jean Michel Jarre etc. etc.) I really don't like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath en Metallica on the website, wich sound like bluecollar hardrock to me, and are far from progressive to me, while a lot of more serieus artists are not mentioned on the website.
The list I made, features bands/artists on the website, but (as said) I like a lot of artists (Shpongle, Entheogenic, My Brightest Diamond, The Fixx, Sting, Allman Brothersband, Gov't Mule etc. etc.) who are nowhere on this website ( pity). Even Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye have more progessive albums than Iron Maiden or Metallica.
Well we have to do with it. have a great day. I'm not mad, it just bothers me.

Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica are prog-related, so no problem with them filed under that. I have a problem with other bands here, but not these ones.
These 3 bands had at least an impact on progressive metal, that's why they're here.

yeah, I found out, I couldn't honestly compare bands. Some genres are so different. How can I compare Moody Blues to Chick Corea, or Ozrics with Kate Bush? :D
I used to listen to thrash- and deathmetal (Testament, Annihilator, Death, Nocturnus, Dark Angel, Forbidden, etc.) and to me, Metallica is the worst of the worst. They were on a major label, that's why they're so well known. Still not mad, but it just bothers me. It shoudn't bother me, though.
Perhaps it bothers me that Iron Maiden and Metallica are in the same 'genre' as Wishbone Ash, Bowie, Queen, Fairport Convention etc. I guess the whole 'prog related'-genre is a mess.

Nothing wrong with anything, anywhere, anytime and anyhow.
Any musical group or artist is great and worth having fans.
Maybe tomorrow I'm in a 2000-2010 hiphop mood, or maybe in a 1920's blues mood.
Today it's all about the neoprog-concept albums:

5. Cirrus Bay
But my top 5 all time remains (I guess):

Always hard to name the most of what you listen to, guess it`s not going to be a dig surprise for you all, but i will star my top 5 with Rush ) the band that i do listen to a lot, collecting almost all their bootleg recordings, the band that influenced on me a lot. The second one i guess it`s a PFM, the band that opened to me an RPI scene, really do love this band, but only their 70s stuff and i guess italian versions )) Third one is Czeslaw Niemen, polish artist that made great prog\psych\art stuff in late 60s mid 70s, his records are so amazing, can`t say what i love more, Rush or Niemen, but i guess both of them made a huge influence on me as a musician. Next one is no surprise )) it`s Porcupine Tree, always been a 60-70s guy, but this band made me discover new sounds in modern prog rock scene, so thnaks to mr. Wilson ))) and the last one for this list will Anekdoten )) what can i say, depressive, cold atmospheric stuff, that`s what i like, and this bands has everything that i do like from 70s to modern sound music ) My list in order: RUSH PFM Czeslaw Niemen Porcupine Tree Anekdoten
Thank you for your time )))
