This album has had a lot of hype and promotion in advance of its release, particularly with Gavin Harrison on drums. Does the end result justify the excitement?

I've written up my take on the album:

I have a few albums by Bruce and the boys, but I find them too much in the alt-rock realm, with occasional forays into Prog territory, albeit, excellent forays. Tightly Unwound is my pick of the bunch.

That is what I like in the music of TPT: the crossover between "new" progressive rock and alternative rock (some kind of mix between Radiohead, Blackfield, Porcupine Tree and The Smashing Pumpkins). Wink

Strange that I'll be the first one to write this here, but in my humble opinion PTP became a joke compared to how good they used to be. The new album I could only enjoy if I wanted to listen to some indie crossover with alt rock - and I'm not a fan of such. No matter how hard I try, I cannot discover a shred of prog when listening to Your wilderness... or pls write to me which track I should listen to again and I swear I will. What is more probable though is that me and this band (which used to be my fav!) now part ways - after this album I'm not interested in them anymore. Bruce Soord can now officially shake hands with Bellamy and all those others who once used to play good music, only to now trade their talent in for the ever-easy way of slowly becoming an indie-alt-pop rock band. Congrats.
But happy to see anyways that they did satifsy some other fans at least.
