These three albums by King Crimson are considered "essential: a masterpiece of progressive music" in the archives and are also the most popular albums by King Crimson. Which is their closest in perfection and importance? They are all not perfect, but the weak points are overshadowed by those geniously moments, which are very dominant on all of these three prog classics. For me it's and always will be the birth of symphonic prog: In The Court Of The Crimson King - Long live the king! |

Red is a stunning record. To me it epitomises KC best. The changing styles on the record, from full-on prog rock to the jazzier elements. an immense record. And it features Bruford! ------------- "...misty halos made visible by the spectral illumination of moonshine." |

In my opinion, not a single King Crimson is a masterpiece, but ITCOTCK is definitely the best King Crimson album. |

Since the choices were so limited, I had to go with the most kick ass
line up of the three, because that reflects the direction they seem to
have mostly taken. Personally, I would like to put in a plug for
Discipline. One night in 198? I was driving along after working a
swing shift in Phoenix when I turn the dial and lo and behold the dj in
prog-dry Phoenix introduced the latest album by King Crimson.
After nearly driving off the road, because I could hardly contain my
excitement, I sat there and listened to the entire album. God
bless you mr. dj wherever you are. That album totally kicked my
ass. It rocked, it funked, it serenely grooved. I still
love it.

I voted for ITCOTCK because out of the 3 proposed to vote, it was THE breakthrough and it is also the one with only one filler (Moonchild). The choice was difficult however since I consider Red not as their best album but Starless as their best number. Oh! By the way...I also consider Red as the last KC album. In the court of the Crimson King is gorgeous. It's so gorgeous it is one of the rare songs in this world that can make me cry. Or thereabouts. Truth be told I'm only just getting into it... I've been encouraged to check out KC for a while now, namely by Odysseus. Now my boyfriend has finally given me some of their music. I have that particular album and I'm loving it ------------- 50 tonne angel falls to the earth... |

Actually Thrak might be their best album for me today. But i think the polls on which KC album is better should be put into groups since Discipline and Starless and Bible Black are just too different to be compared. |

Red is too fusiony... Actually with the exception of Starless, I really dont like any of it. Most deffinatly IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING!!
