I have 2 Faust LP's, and I like them A LOT. I have around 16 Eloy LP's, and I love most of them LOTS MORE. Eloy

Eloy not only has geographical ties with the Krautrock scene, being German, but I hear a lot of what I think of as a Krautrock-sound in music by it. In sites that multitag such as discogs and rateyourmusic, Krautrock is used as a descriptor for various Eloy albums. There is plenty of variety in Krautrock anyway. Anyway, I like both Faust and Eloy, but am voting Faust based on Faust IV in particular (the album by Faust I'm most into at the moment). |

I know I would enjoyed Eloy if it wasn't for the nasal, unmelodic vocals (Inside is nice though) that ruins a lot of appealing playing, soundscapes, atmospheres and compositions. Faust for me. So Far is my favorite.

Bornemann has one of the most annoying vocal in prog - or music. Maybe its more weak melodies than unmelodic. I usually don't mind accented vocals though. Jean-Herve Peron voice isn't nasal and fits Faust's music perfectly - which isn't as melody-based as Eloy.

I've become somewhat more critical with my teenage favourites Eloy over the years, but Faust never really did it for me, so still Eloy. |

| Funny, I love Krautrock, but years ago I bought Faust IV and I didn't go for it. I got rid of it. I do have the debut (clear vinyl, X-Ray PVC sleeve) of which side 1 is brilliant, side 2 more hard going, and You Know FaUSt, a more recent release, which is consistently excellent. But I'm still not fully sold on these guys. |
