Vote only on the album covers, not the music.

1. Asia - Asia

2. Osibisa - Woyaya

3. Gentle Giant - Octopus

4. Greenslade - S/T

5. Paladin - Charge!

Paladin's cover reminds me of the sleeve art for a good sci-fi novel. The easiest for me to access conceptually among the lot. Never heard the album though. Any good?

I think they're all great but I'm going Asia on this one too.

If it was the US version of octopus I would vote for it.

But as it is...Asia.

Pretty close. I give the edge to Greenslade.

Not hard to understand. That Munch-inspired cover does not fit in this series. I wuold rather think of Grobschnitt's Rockpommel's Land instead:

I have to go with Greenslade on this one.

Yep - GREENSLADE.
I used to have the Paladin LP (on the 'Bronze' imprint) - had too few moments I liked so I ditched it. I think Pete Solley was the keyboardist.

Just be patient! There are still plenty of polls in the weeks to come, so stay tuned. And like someone_else said, that cover doesn't fit in any of the themes I've posted so far.

I'll give my vote to Octopus. I always felt it was the perfect cover because of the octopus' smug and elitist expression; it's probably how most non-prog fans see Gentle Giant fans. Tongue

Decent hard rock with a proggy edge....

Nice design on all of them. The Green Slade one has a spectacular use of color, so I voted for that one

Paladin ever so slightly over Octopus.
The full cover art for Octopus though is nothing short of breathtaking. Easily one of Dean's finest moments:

^ Looks fantastic opened up like that. But of course, the shading of the LP printing is lighter overall (it is on my version, Vertigo swirl copy)
I recall seeing Topographic (Yes) vinyl versions with *really* dark tones. Can't recall which pressing though.

Gosh how I loved this cover-art - great colours (blue/green/red) but whilst I enjoy their albums around it, I could not get into this one. I got rid of it in the 90's. Just the opening track resonated with me on any level. Love the debut and Happy Children especially, Heads and Osibirock not as much - and W(yaya just gave me the sh*ts..........go figure
