What are your favourite pieces of album art, prog or not prog? Whether it be the front cover, inner gatefold, etc. My top 5 are: 1. Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach 2. Marshall Tucker Band - A New Life 3. King Crimson - In The Wake of Poseidon 4. Judas Priest - Killing Machine 5. Marshall Tucker Band - S/T ------------- when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents |

so many choices...some many great choices .. I'll have to think that over. or just shoot from the hip.. as I am fast on the draw.. and a marksman to boot.. Micky, you know the story why the ABB is hilarious on that shot?? Just a few seconds before, they were in execrable moods, because they'd been waiting for the man (dealer) for hours, and he was nowhere to be seen. As they were getting ready for the picture, the man crossed the picture path and dropped on Duane's lap a big bag of dope and disappeared out of the field. All that Duane could do was to conceal "da dope" evidence between his crotch and cover it with his hands, therefore creating general hilarity |

I'd always heard this story as the band being pissed off that the photographer dragged them out to get the picture taken at sunrise. They were all tired and told him that it wouldn't make any difference what time of day the picture was taken. So they were being all pouting until they recognized a dealer walking by and Duane ran over and grabbed some "product", hiding it between his legs and creating the shot we have today. Hi, For sheer originality and content ... just get "The Album Cover Book". It also has a history section. Hipgnosis is my choice here, for its creativity and what I consider intelligence and literate artistic style. After that the covers for AD2's Yeti, Dance of the Lemmings, Carnival in Babylon and Wolf City. There are only 2 other albums that I kept/bought for the covers ... the original "Space Ritual" by Hawkwind with is incredible fold out, and "Be Good to Yourself ... Yes-Fly From Here. Devo-Duty Now For The Future. Caravan-ITLOGAP Zappa-The Man From Utopia/ SATLTSTDW. Roxy Music- For Your Pleasure. KC-Red. Rainbow -Straight Between The Eyes. Spinal Tap-The Black Album. PF-Animals- Angry modern sounding album and the cover backs up the story. Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath. Space Needle-Where The F### Is My Wallet. The Cars -Panorama And a lot more I can't think of right now.
