Greg Lake Re-releases His Two Solo Albums “Greg Lake” & “Manoeuvres” on Double Disc Set, a Week After Receiving an Honourary Degree!

London, UK - Greg Lake is the co-founder of KING CRIMSON and EMERSON LAKE AND PALMER (ELP), and wrote the hit “LUCKY MAN” and co-wrote “I BELIEVE IN FATHER CHRISTMAS”.

This 2-CD set collects together both of Lake’s two solo albums, his first self-titled album (1981) and his second album “Manoeuvres” (1983). The set includes FOUR BONUS TRACKS which have never been included on any re-issue of the albums, only on separate rarities albums.

The first album and its three bonus tracks feature all of the members of TOTO with the exception of Bobby Kimball as Lake handles all lead vocals. Both albums also feature appearances GARY MOORE on guitar.

Both CDs have received a 2015 REMASTER which has the personal approval of GREG LAKE. The booklet includes extensive liner notes. This is a great and easy way to buy both of Greg Lake’s studio albums and all the rarities connected to these albums in one place.

For hard core fans only I suppose since they are both mediocre rock albums.

Hi,

The stuff on the first album, helped make Garry Moore even better known ... at least "Nuclear Attack" was huge and well known and used in various places, specially the Policeman's Balls ... that Greg was too busy to have fun with, and everyone else in there was too artsy for him. I like the first album, but thought the 2nd one was not that good. I think his attempt to go all acoustic just did not sound as strong as with the hefty stuff behind him, that gave his lyrics and singing its sharp edge, which was visible in King Crimson and then ELP. Simplified, he has to rely on his voice, and it wasn't enough ... maybe we got spoiled by the other stuff!

Though I know "Nuclear Attack", the rest of these recordings  I have never heard.
And I had no idea that the members of Toto were involved in the first of these two albums. Interesting. I think I will buy these releases.

When compared to the strength and beauty of the well known stuff of his with ELP and KC, I would say that the solo albums are a disappointment. The first one is OK, mostly because of Garry Moore, but the 2nd one, to my ears, THEN, was a poor excuse for an album.

In some ways, it is more of a curiosity shop nowadays than anything else.
