Voyager Music Festival 2015 Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Voyager Music Festival Announces Its Inaugural Debut for the Summer of 2015!

Explore Something Outside the Mainstream - June 13, 2015 11am-11pm

Austin, Texas – April 21, 2015 – Explore Something Outside the Mainstream – Happening for the first time this June at The Rusty Mule in Austin, Texas, the Voyager Music Festival will be celebrating all forms of art that attempt to go "beyond the boundaries" and create something new. This festival, this year, highlights musicians who are pushing the boundaries of music, be it by way of employing a robotic drummer, running a violin through heavy effects, exploring wild synth tones, using odd time signatures, playing incredibly technical virtuoso guitar, etc.

Featured performers:
  • Descendants of Erdrick - Progressive metal video game tribute band
  • Pony Trap - Robot drummer with tricked out stringed instruments
  • eBurner feat. Lauren Lyman - Innovative synth and effected flute
  • Opposite Day - Virtuoso rock guitar, bass and drums
  • Proud Peasant - Cinematic rock
  • Eric Power Up - Hand-animated film
  • Many more acts who are pushing the boundaries of music!
The Festival includes daytime and evening performances, local Austin food trailers, local Austin artisans and vendors, a playscape with magic sideshows for the kids, lots of tree cover and cooling mists to help beat the heat, and plenty of refreshments!

ABOUT THE VOYAGER MUSIC FESTIVAL

Voyager is a music festival celebrating all forms of art that attempt to go "beyond the boundaries" and create something new. It was borne from a love of progressive music, which by definition is an exploration of new and interesting musical landscapes–that pulls in elements from varied musical styles, challenges conventions and makes use of advancements in instrument technology.

We have a thriving and growing community of musicians and artists who are keeping the vision of progressive music alive by striving to move beyond the boundaries of convention and exploring, be it by the injection of tonal and rhythmic complexities, unusual song structures, novel forms of instrumentation, or tasteful blending of styles.

The people behind this festival have a sincere interest in shepherding unique, innovative and accessible music, art and technology into the world and to people of all ages. We have a longterm interest in supporting such arts as viable and sustainable occupations.
