After finishing their two-album collaboration with Dungen guitarist Reine Fiske, Motorpsycho wrapped up 2014 by reuniting with Elephant9 and Supersilent keyboardist Ståle Storløkken for two special commisioned piece performances, one at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology in November, that will form the basis for a new studio album that may see release later this year, and one at Nidarosdomen in July, that was filmed and recorded, and will be available as a 180g double vinyl, CD and DVD package, limited to 4000 handnumbered copies. The album, named "En konsert for folk flest" (A Concert for Most People) will be released on April 17.

From Rune Grammofon: "Documenting an event that most likely will never be repeated, this is a unique album in many ways, one being that all the lyrics, sung by the 24-piece choir, for the first time in the band´s history are in Norwegian. The dvd includes the full concert plus a 65 minute documentary. The packaging is also pretty nifty with its 400g heavy duty cardboard and a 24-page LP-sized booklet."

The album can be ordered/pre-ordered here:

Piss.

Well I'm out. Hopefully it makes it's way to the internets...this sounds like something that could be awesome.

It does indeed. Well, I ordered the damn thing, but I wouldn't've had the opportunity to do so if I had to order it from abroad

True.

Though even if I was in Norway I probably wouldn;t want to spend the money on two large black circles I'll never use.

The Death Defying Unicorn is a great listen, I'm going to consider this one for sure

I must say it annoys me when bands I like do stuff like this. It's great to have the deluxe set for those who can afford it, but making the music exclusive to the set is raising two fingers to those who can't. Or who think their music budget might be better spent on five or more other albums rather than just one that costs a damn fortune.

I wonder how many of those 180g vinyl slabs will get played more than once? Can't jeopardise the value of one's investment!

Nature of the biz I suppose. Bah humbug.

well, despite some misgivings over the tactics of only releasing this sure to be sought after album in only an extremely expensive format, i bit the bullet...but also sure that after burning the digital, the package gets tucked away to recover my expense at some later date

Damn....I so want this release but my wallet said no almost instantly. It's hiding somewhere under the sofa as we speak.
I hope they sell slowly veeeeeery slowly. I need my yearly Reine Fiske dosage and when he's then surrounded by Ståle Storløkken and the Motorpsycho kids.....Oh sweet mama!

No Reine Fiske on this one, David, so your wallet's safe, unless you're interested anyway that is. Wink

Yeah, see your point for sure.

I've been meaning to get myself a turntable, so I can spin the three large black circles I have, but I don't know when I'll get the cash to do that, so in the meantime they're just sitting on the shelf collecting dust...Ermm
