Not surprised by this announcement, the boys will go back out this year for a 3-month tour of North America starting in May. Based on the article the show will be focused on 40 years of Rush music, hence R40 title like the R30 previous tour.
Here is the link and article.

You can see the full itinerary below.

The Canadian power trio released a massive http://ultimateclassicrock.com/rush-completist-r40/" rel="nofollow - - 2012′s ‘Clockwork Angels ,’ debuted at No. 2.

Because there are no plans for any new music right now, Rush will most likely stick to their huge catalog of classic songs for the upcoming tour. As the press release announcing these dates states, “Concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music.” That’s good news for fans hoping to hear lots of ’2112′ and ‘Moving Pictures’ cuts.

Tickets will go on sale for some of the dates on Jan. 30 through http://www.ticketmaster.com/" rel="nofollow - - Live Nation .

I've only seen Rush once (Presto tour), but I may serious consider catching this one.

Recent interviews in Prog Mag, RS are indicating the boys are winding down...At least with regard to touring. Geddy states they may have enough to do one more good album. Neil seems very concerned what the touring has effect on his young daughter, being away from her. Geddy also becoming a granddad, wants probably to spend time with the grand kids...makes sense.

My guess is they have 1-2 more albums in them and this could be the last large tour they do, I expect some UK dates eventually.
For any future tours I will guess they will be short like 10 city appearances and only in North America so they stay close to home, 3 month tours then back home.

I would highly suggest not missing this tour.

Tickets go on sale today (early) and tomorrow to the general public.  Is there anybody anymore who don't get the "early" promotions anymore?

Me, but i don't really care, when you buy the tickets online, the system give you automatically the closest seat to the scene which is in my opinion not the best seats to watch a Rush concert. I still don't know if i am going to spend 90$ to see the band, because it could be their last tour.

Scott, not sure about Detroit but I bought mine last week on the Rush Backstage Club presale for Seattle, the "presale" and general public sales I think starts tomorrow. Visa presale was this past Tuesday I think......So for Seattle show there may not be good seats left meaning low on the bowl, probably all very high up sections by now.
Unless you want to pay triple from StubHub Angry and places like that for low close in......

I feel it could be their last big tour in NA, with multiple city stops. Future tours will be shorter and less cities. For example on the west coast I see maybe only LA, San Fran, Seattle and Vancouver BC.

I got two seats upstairs in the fourth row at about half court, so they are on the side of the stage, but should be good.

Good for you!! I saw Rush a few times on the floor within first 5 rows.....The last time was the Presto Tour, problem is my wife finally said "NO MORE!! I can't see anything but the back of the person in front of me". Poor thing is only 5'-1" LOL, so we now only sit on the sides mid court and actually is better, because their shows are so big and you want to see the whole stage at once to get the full effect....and my better half is having more fun.
