From the Tech/Extreme Metal Conference we have one of the greats of the genre!! From o'Canada VOIVOD!!!!! From the NEO-Prog conference we have its greatest and most popular group. From England MARILLION!!! Vegas oddsmakers have installed Marillion as a heavy 30 vote favorite. Can Voivod pull the upset or keep it close. Marillion quite easily. I like Voivod but have never understood why they get rated so highly, contemparies like Watchtower and Atheist were far better IMO. ------------- Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I'm going to sit this one out. actually Steve.. that is why I haven't voted yet. I really do not care a single bit for Marillion but really don't know Voivod. Raff tells me we have some of their stuff, I might take a listen and if I like it. I vote for them, if not. I'll vote for Marillion for the import/legacy. Not that it really matters.. Marillion....But with FISH Sorry E, but can't stand Hogarth's era, to me Hogarth to Marillion is what Collins was to Genesis. I always try to find myself, I was near the dressed as a monk with a red hood (Well, there were a couple).

Haha, I expected this comment from Iván. I agree BTW about the Marillion/Hogarth statement (not the Collins/Genesis). Post-Fish Marillion is a riddle to me, I find it very boring, except for maybe some stuff on the early Hogarth albums. My vote for Marillion is because I think the early Marillion/Fish albums are very good.

I also like The Outer Limits a lot. Darryl posted a video of the 17-minute epic "Jack Luminous", which of course is the album's centrepiece, but their cover of "The Nile Song" is also fantastic. |

I listened to some Voivod when I first joined here, at best for me it was OK. The whole TechMetal stuff I don't get, regardless Voivod nowhere near resonates with me like Marillion has. -------------
