I love Mitchel but honestly he's not in the same league as Baker. I love how he sounds in the studio but live versions show he is sometimes sloppy. Baker is amazing.

Ginger, as he was Mitchell's inspiration.

Oh, and he could not touch Baker's foot work.

Baker all the way......I never thought all that much of Mitchell's drumming.

Mitchell was more loose and jazzy, and had fantastic fills and licks. I found Baker's drumming too repetitive. Lacked the chops to really spice up Cream.

^ Mitchell's 'somersault drumming' perfectly complemented Hendrix's guitar playing.
Not sure about Baker's lack of chops though.

Baker really but I don't own that much Cream or Hendrix. The Cream track I love just for the drumming is the White Room

Mr. Baker by a landslide.....though I dig Hendrix, the drumming is the last thing I listen for.

I'll vote for Mitch.

I like Cream and I like the contribution Baker made to Hawkwind, but overall I'm not that keen on his style.

That's basically how I see it.....I did go back and listen to Mitchell with Hendrix and he's damn good but beyond that I don't have much to say. Baker has done so much with so many bands and and in different ways that it's hard not to pick him overall.
When I listen to Cream Baker stands out and is a third of the sound but when I listen to Hendrix Mitchell gets kind of lost in the hoopla.

even with the deduction of points for one of the painful to listen to drum solos ever committed to vinyl LOL. Ginger still rules...

both excellent players... creatively.. that is what seperates great talents.. what do you DO with it.

what he did with Air Force sets him a peg higher iMO...

Neither are great favourites of mine tbh. But I vote Ginger Baker, who has done more interesting stuff IMO.

Also, if I don't vote for him he'll probably come round my house and beat the sh*t out of me.
