Just listening for the first time to Beautiful freak by the Eels, which I missed the first time around (I was focusing on classical music for most of the nineties). Excellent album, and I think many progheads should be able to appreciate it.

The new release by the Eels "Blinking Lights" is fantastic. Extremely personal lyrics, and a level of musicianmanship and experimentation that prog fans would appreciate. Appearance from my favourite artist Tom Waits. Id suggest it to everyone, great band, easy to appreciate.

I love the Eels too ... Electro-Shock blues is harrowing but very good   as is Daisies of the galaxy. The latest one Blinking Lights is full of wonderful, personal moments but a more demanding listen, probably because its a double album.

'E' is the front man who does most of the composing from what I gather. He's had a pretty rough time of it what with his other & sister dying within a year of each other (Electro-shock blues is partly about his sister's suicide), and  a cousin (?) who died in one of the 9/11 plane crashes (the one that hit the Pentagon).  His dad seems to have been a bit mean to him, too ... (and died before his mum)

I was never really sure what I was waiting for. When the moment came I was looking away ......
