Great article.  My favourite press quote about Crimso came in 1974 and appears in the booklet accompanying the old best of vinyl, "The Young Person's Guide to King Crimson":

Calling the mellotron a soulless instrument is like saying King Crimson was devoid of artistic talent and made up exclusively of musical neophytes.

Thank you, it is pleasing return into times, in which  hardly anybody knows what mellotron is, who typically is using it, or who is some "Bob Fritt"

Real talk, every time that mellotron chord starts at the beginning of Starless, I'm in tears. Cry Like, every time. Such a deep sound from a truly expressive, emotional instrument. Probably the most inherently emotional one in all of prog.
