any of these albums worth checking out?

Cuneiform is my favorite currently-running label. Great forward-looking stuff that isn't necessarily totally out there and inacessible to a regular ol' prog fan (unlike, say, a lot of ReR material, which is also great but tougher stuff).

The thing about Cuneiform is that there's a huge diversity of material on the label, from jazz (Graham Collier, John Surman) to electronic (Richard Pinhas, Peter Frohmader) to avant-prog/RIO (U Totem, Thinking Plague) to Canterbury (Soft Machine, Machine and the Synergetic Nuts) to more straight-up proggy-prog (Djam Karet, Deus ex Machina, Yang). No symph though!

If you go to Wayside Music, Cuneiform's sister operation, you can find a bunch of older Cuneiform releases at $4 cutout prices. None of these are classics but most are very good. And while they are all forward-thinking, complex, experimental, and all those other things we claim to like, they are also not really prog, so be warned - Steve (the owner of the label and vendor) likes to use as his motto, "purposefully disappointing the 'true' 'prog' fan for over 25 years!"

Cuneiform are a brilliant label for avant-prog and the like. I agree with the Muffins, but really it depends on what you want! Read the descriptions, listen to the samples, take your pick! It's a real melting pot of unusual music. Lovely label.

The interesting one to me is Radio Massacre International.They use real Mellotrons in their music and sound incredibly like early Tangerine Dream (Phaedra era) or early Edgar Froese.That link includes a five minute sample from their latest album.Awesome stuff! All TD fans should check this out!
