How much do you alter equalization when listening to music?
When I was younger I used to use the EQ much more, I have a vintage EQ with 12 bands per channel and I tended to boost both ends of the spectrum, the bassest and trebblest frequencies, keeping the middle frequencies at line level or even lower.
With time I have come to use it much less and now I frequently listen to albums without applying any EQ at all, I kind of think that the original EQ level of the album was the one intended by the band so I prefer not to alter it, especially when listening through headphones. I may use some EQ when listening via loudspeakers to enhance some frequencies when playing the music in a low-volume way, but otherwise I tend not to use EQ anymore.

Never. Don't use tone controls either.
What?

The only time I use Equalizer is when mixing my own stuff

I assume that recorded music was mixed correctly the first time, so I never use it.

I noticed that when I switch from a tube amp to a transistor one, I feel a compulsion to boost both bass and treble at the expense of the mids (I don't have working EQ circuitry on any of the tube amps I entertain myself with).

On mp3 player, I prefer (not sure why) the "jazz" or "classical" settings.

I think the only good use for an EQ is to compensate imperfect speakers/rooms.

Never. I think I have the bass turned up a bit more than the treble on my speakers, but I never change it, nor do I ever use equalisation when listening to music through my computer.

Most of my music is on my phone, because I'm aaaaalways on the go. So I can apply different settings to each song, but I tend to have a full bass boost to go with my superbass headphones, failing that I go custom settings Wink

I never liked those preset EQ settings in modern devices, 'pop', 'classical', 'rock', 'R&B', 'jazz'... wtf? alright we all know that Dance and Techno kids like exaggerated bass in their horribly tuned hatchback cars but come on, there's no such thing as a 'jazz EQ preset'.

Used to have one back in the day, but now, never.

Bass & Treble always left 'flat'

When I play music with winamp I use its EQ.

More bass, more mid-range, 1k is the top of the curve, boosted the most, but from 12k and upwards it's lowered. It's just to adapt or compensate the hifi-system, I guess. If I had a perfect high-end system maybe I wouldn't use EQ.

I have other eq settings for different kind of music. Computer game music like c-64 changes drastically with different eq settings.

ANd, I forgot  - the amplifier has settings for bass and treble and both are increased.

I need to buy new speakers though , they have some problems. But I like the sound of them and the frequency range is good (Jamo power 365).

But I'm not the kind of person who says for instance "I like bass!"  and uses maximum bass level.

I have an EQ in my upstairs living room setup, an ADC 10-band about 10 yrs old. I use it occasionally as the room has hardwood floors with lots of furniture that soaks up portions of the spectrum, so I add/deduct a bit here and there.....its not a problem, its all about how the music sounds.

I recently stopped listening to music through speakers, the bass and treble configuration of which were left as they are for ages.
