UK Neo Prog outfit Legend: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=602, have announced that the new singer to replace Kerry Parker, who left the band at the start of the year due to ongoing health issues and work pressure, will be Beck Siàn, the daughter of a cousin of Kate Bush. From Legend's facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/LEGEND/114753498154 "We are very happy to announce that LEGEND has found a new vocalist in the shape of Beck Sian. Beck has released three exceptional solo recordings and we are delighted that she has decided to join LEGEND as her voice adds significantly to our new sound. We are now able to finish recording our new album Spirit which we expect to be released in late summer / early autumn. Look out for previews of the new album over the next couple of months. In the meantime do check out Beck’s solo albums, she has unique style that I am sure many LEGEND fans will appreciate! Beck will be continuing with her solo career and her future projects may include collaborations with LEGEND members who knows... We are looking forward to an exciting new chapter in LEGEND’s story!" http://www.facebook.com/pages/Beck-Sian/180709605350533 http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/BeckSi%c3%a0n http://www.katebushnews.com/index.php/2013/01/beck-sians-current-album-ye-oid-silent-inn-and-new-projects-for-2013/ Here's a sample of her singing: Edit: Thread title amended to include the new album, as well as the new vocalist.

The band have updated their page about the new album, including a preview of the excellent cover art: http://www.stevepaine.org/page15.html
As LEGEND enters their 25th year, with a new Vocalist at the helm, the return of Paul
Thomson to the line up, it promises exciting things for the Band’s new album
‘Spirit’. In some respects it is a natural evolution from the critically
acclaimed ‘Cardinal Points’ in that it retains a theme throughout its five
songs. However sonically LEGEND have moved on again, this album is harder with a
distinctly metal edge to many of the songs and the vocal range and articulation
of Beck Sian’s vocals add a hitherto unexpected dimension to the music. And if
that is not enough the album also features some Choral Sections to add yet more
depth to the already epic sound.
In certain paths of western mysticism Spirit is considered the fifth element that which binds the elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Indeed Spirit is symbolised by the fifth point on the pentagram. But what does it mean? Spirit: the non- Is one of the definitions from The Oxford English Dictionary and it is this aspect of Spirit that this album explores. The events that forge the character. The situations we all face and that change us all, sometimes for good or for ill but always in ways we never expect. LEAP OF FAITH – The opener deals with those times whether expected or not, the moment we have to make a decision, one that may alter the course of everything and it is like many important decisions one that is made without full foresight of the consequences. It can be as simple as the instant decision to trust a stranger in need or the choice to begin a relationship, to take a chance. But it is a decision once made that cannot be turned back. WOOD FOR THE TREES – A song about perspective. It is all too easy to get caught up in the minutiae of a situation whilst blithely forgetting the bigger picture. Many of us feel trapped by all the details and complexity of modern social existence that we seldom take time to think and take stock of where we actually are and where we might be going. The grind of the day to day obscures the long term plan, this is a reminder to take a moment and try to see where you are and to plan where you go from there! A TANGLED SKEIN – However simply you may try to live, life has a habit of being complicated. Using the threads of a tapestry as a metaphor for all those different parts of life and how they intersect and thread together and the hideous confusion a tangle can cause. Some threads must be cut to unravel others and once cut the whole thing could fall apart, the choice is when and where. The moment when a relationship ends, it shows us how many different threads are part of the tangle of our lives and how each thread affects another in so many different ways. CROSSING OF THE WAYS –The crossroads of life, the BIG decision! We all reach points when we have to make a major choice. Maybe that point arises at a time not of our own choosing, but nonetheless the choice must be made. This is about weighing up the pros and cons, lamenting what must be left behind and the hopes a new path may bring. A balancing of the soul, an accounting of the past and a step onward to a new horizon. Rich in folklore; the crossroads, a place where all paths meet, a place sacred in its own right. Where the veil between the worlds are thinnest, a place where deals are struck and curses laid to rest. STATE OF GRACE – A moment of peace, of contentment and even of triumph. However large or small, extraordinary or mundane, we all have our successes and it is only right to celebrate them accordingly. The good deed we did for a stranger, the praise of a loved one for a task accomplished, the recognition of colleagues for your skills. All of these things bring us moments of grace, of satisfaction or contentment. It is human nature to dwell on past failures or losses, indeed there is an old saying; ‘When you do good, nobody remembers, when you do bad, nobody ever forgets.’ This song is a reminder of how important the good moments are and to keep them in your heart, for that way your spirit will remain strong and you will have a light to guide you even in your darkest hour. Taken individually or as a complete whole the songs explore the aspects of us all, our hopes and fears, our dreams and desires and the trials and tribulations that make us simply more than the sum of our parts. As hinted already it is an exciting line up, indeed some in the press and media are already speculating that this could be the finest LEGEND incarnation to date! Beck Sian / vocals As usual there will be guest musicians though that will be principally the choral performers, there is a notable debut; Taliesin Paine, Steve’s youngest son has contributed to the rhythm guitars in certain points of the album. Yet another in the line of LEGEND kids making a their foray into the world of music. The album cover is a painting entitled ‘Gateway to the Stars’ by British artist Josephine Wall. Steve Paine is a lover of art with esoteric, otherworldly or pagan themes. He stumbled upon Jo’s work whilst browsing King Crimson videos on Youtube. He was completely enthralled and immediately went to look at Jo’s work online where he came upon Gateway to the Stars. The picture seemed to cover the scope of the theme whilst retaining focus on an individual, even though they appear overwhelmed by all that surrounds them. It so captured his imagination it was the wallpaper on his DAW throughout the writing and recording process. Josephine has an excellent website as well as her own Gallery in Dorset so to see more of her inspirational art go to www.josephinewall.com At present the band is putting the finishing touches to vocal and choral parts at Lyonesse Studios in darkest South Wales, Steve expects to start the mixing stage very shortly. Spirit is expected to be released late summer or early autumn 2013 and will, no doubt, mark a new chapter in the myth that is LEGEND! Edited by yam yam - March 20 2013 at 13:17 |

Yam Yam, maybe the announcement that Legend is releasing a new album deserves its own thread? After all, this thread announced the new vocalist not the new album. Btw, the new album is fantastic! Edited by SouthSideoftheSky - October 17 2013 at 03:16 |
