The 30th anniversary re-masters are very, very good, so you can bye that one.

History:

  1. Original vinyl on Islands records - 1969
  2. Vinyl on Polydor (fantastic) - 1981
  3. First generation CD (awfull) - 1983
  4. Defenitive re-master (good) - 1989
  5. 30th anniversary remaster (superior) - 1999
  6. Original remaster - 2005 (apperantly from original rediscovered tape)
  7. SACD or DVD-Audio (don't know if it's been released)
  8. ????
  9. ????
  10. Chip ?????
  11. Application applied in your brain by surgery ????

I draw the line when I was satisfied= 30th anniversary edition, but even the 1989-version will do

There is still something wonderful listening to albums on vinyl.... igot my ITCOTCK in 1978, played it to death and i still have that copy. So better versions are available and i have the 2005 version......but you just don't get the same thrill reading a cd cover as you do a gatefold sleeve.

In all fairness I can't hear anything wrong with the '99 version, apparently it was by far superior to all other CD releases at the time. Good job I decided not to buy any more KC CDs since I found they were being upgraded somehow I guess

The new 20005 version sounds very good. Although I still prefer my 1969 version.

I totaly agree.....the 2005 album has not been touched by compression.

This is a no brainer

Greetings.  I'm  about  to buy  King Crimsons's  debut CD. Can someone tell me the differences between their 1999 30th Anniversary Edition on the label Caroline and their 2005 release on the label Discipline Us?  Does one sound better than the other?  Does the 30th edition come with something extra? Thanks in advance.
