That Dylan Xmas album....hilarious! An album that is truely so bad that it's good....no, can't say good but worth listening to for a good holiday chuckle. I really hope he was taking the piss when he made it, but I guess it's utlimately up to us to decide.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

In general, I'm not too fond of the secular Christmas songs, especially the pop renditions. I prefer hymns and classic carols (you know, the obvious ones like Silent Night and Hark the Herald Angels Sing, etc.) that really speak to the meaning of the season.
I did hear a great instrumental jazz rendition of "O Christmas Tree" on the radio the other day, though.
I don't know who recorded my least favorite, but I think it's called "Happy Holiday." The one that goes: "It's the holiday season / And Santa Claus / Is coming round... or something like that.

If only Christmas music was restricted to the interesting instrumentals.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Pretty sure that'd be Andy Williams. "He'll be comin' down the chimney down!" (This is an example of the "throw in an extra preposition and call it artistic license" phenomenon.)

Any pop or rock star who cashes in on the season by recording a christmas single is a nominee and joint winner of worse christmas song ever, and that includes Gregory Lake, Keith Emerson and Ian Anderson.
I fully agree with this.
I fully don't
Songs are written about all sorts of things and Christmas is just one subject. Its a time of the year that inspires all sorts of feelings good and bad. No harm on writing about this. Greg Lake and Peter Sinfields' seasonal effort is a very commendable and beautifull song imo.
I hate the cheesey Christmas songs like Slade's ,Eltons and Wizard. Very DULL.
My favourite is Steeleye Spans version of the traditional song Gaudette.
