In A Nutshell are a psychodelic/prog band from Moscow. The band has recorded the debut album Ultraviolet Test in 2005, released Arrythmia in 2007, and has been working on their third LP titled Jatinga ever since.
Named after the infamous valley of falling birds in India, Jatinga features violin, trumpet, cello duo, organs, pianos, folk percussion (both African and Georgian), Caucasian and Christian Orthodox choirs and even a string orchesta fused with the more (or less) traditional rock sound.
Some info and tracks may be found at www.myspace.com/inanutshellband and below:
"Epilogue" (Jatinga)
Video directed by Petra Freeman and based on her "Jumping Joan"
Mixed by Vladimir Rozdin, mastered by John Westman.
"Falling Bird To Dance" (Jatinga)

"Priapism" (Jatinga)
Mixed by Vladimir Rozdin, mastered by John Westman.

Nice stuff. I liked how much the voice in the first video reminded me of Bob Dylan.
Over-all I think this can be considered psych prog in the way that Dungen are, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Space/Psych team decided it's too "crossover" for them. |
