I haven't seen many threads on stuff like Procol Harum, Rare Bird, Triumvirat, Seventh Wave, Tangerine Dream, Mike Oldfield, (name more here:__________) and the like...any thoughts?

IMO, In Held 'Twas In I is one of the classic "epics" of it's day, right up there with Atom Heart Mother....

Your shirt's all dirty...there's a man here from the BBC

Would you believe I own 9 PH albums but have never heard In Held 'Twas I (the two studio one I'm missing are Shine On Brightly and Broken Barricades)? ... I've actually asked a friend to look for them over this past week ... so I'll find out tomorrow if I've got em ...

the other tracks that I've heard from Shine On Brightly (the title track and Quite Rightly So) are brilliant, and so is the A Salty Dog album that followed, so I've got high hopes for this one ... here's hoping

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

indeed.

In Held Twas I is a monument of the genre, a true monument.  It still amazes me that was 1968.

I rate Mike Oldfield's output highly. Considering he was only one guy up against the 5 in Yes , the Moody Blues and Genesis , 4 in Pink Floyd and 3 in ELP  it is a mighty performance. As was that of ian Anderson in Jethro Tull. I think I got more enjoyment from Thick As a Brick as most of the more famous recordings from the bigger names.
How wonderful to be so profound

Oh, my child.....life is like a beanstalk, isn't it?

I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....
