Topic: converting rating only to review Posted: December 08 2010 at 18:50 |
Hello I was reviewing "Royal Bed Bouncer" by Kayak for the first time. I hit submit and then tried to stop it to make a change. Apparently the rating went through but not the review. When I went to edit old reviews, it was the first one on the list, as rating only. I edited it and added back in the text. When I saved, everything was fine except that the review did not appear on the front page. I was quite proud of it so am disappointed

But that will also mean that everytime one edits a review it will appear in the frontpage? Just asking.

ooh that would not be good would it?
It should only be when a rating only is converted to a review, regardless of how long ago the rating only occurred. In my case the review was literally moments after the rating.
This bug is probably showing itself a lot with the new "rate now" feature that I was reading about, which encourages an immediate rating that can later be followed up with a review, unless I misunderstood. I have no interest in doing ratings only so didn't pay much attention.
Thanks Max!

I think the way it was was fine. I edit my reviews and ratings quite often and it wouldn't seem right that everytime i did that it showed up on the front page again. Heck if you don't want to be on the front page then you just rate it only and do the review later, not that anyone wants their review hidden.

I think the point Ken's making is that his should have appeared on the front page because it was still one of the newest reviews. I agree entirely that edits, as such, should not prompt a reappearance on the front page. Who wants to read the same review ovver and over simply because a few T's and I's have been crossed/dotted?

Hmmm, it's funny. I'm never doing ratings without reviews. However, when Max implemented a Quick Rating Feature I tested it. Afterwards (perhaps 10 minutes) I wrote the review and it appeared on the front page, still being first.

hmm, that's the behavior I would expect. Oh well, at least my clandestine review escaped the wrath of the legions of Kayak fans no doubt lurking herein

Same here, I don't rate without review. But unlike you, I didn't test the Quick Rating, there was an error in my PC and I ended up rating an album (The Polite Force) that I'm still not ready to review. I mean, it's no big problem, but it kind of sucks lol.
